Women's Team Canada Assistant Coaches Announced

The Canadian Ball Hockey Association's Women's Team Canada is pleased to announce the selection of their two assistant coaches for the 2015 World Ball Hockey Championships in Zug, Switzerland.

Lori Parker of Vancouver, British Columbia and Tom Walsh of St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Lori Parker is returning to the National program after a brief hiatus and is very excited to rejoin the Coaching staff that has been assembled for the world championships in Zug Switzerland. She was a member of the coaching staff on the team that won gold in Pilsen, Czech Republic in 2009 and Silver in Bratislava, Slovakia in 2011. Her playing career spanned 25 years and was highlighted by being selected Captain of the women’s team that won gold at the first official Women’s World Championship in Ratingen, Germany as well as the Vancouver Sharks team that represented Canada at the Women’s World Cup in Pittsburg, USA in 2005. With her many years of coaching experience and playing experience, particularly on the international floor surface, Lori brings a combined package that begins with leadership, knowledge of the game and a passion to win.

Tom Walsh is excited to return for a second consecutive term as assistant coach of the Women’s National Team. His resume includes a gold medal from the 2013 World Championship which was held in his home province of NL. His goal is to support the WTC coaching staff and players in preparing to defend their World Championship title.
Tom has a diverse sporting background and has competed and coached in a variety of sports at the intercollegiate and senior levels. He has been coaching Triple “A” ice hockey teams and senior ball hockey teams for the past 8 years. His NL Home Hardware team are three-time provincial champs and have participated in the Eastern Canadian Championships for the past five years and have earned several medals and a couple of championship titles. Tom has always supported sport and ball hockey at the grass roots level. He just recently chaired the ‘Sports and Venues’ committee for the NL 2014 Winter Games and is presently the director of women’s ball hockey for Newfoundland and Labrador.

Tom is quite passionate about fitness. He is excited and humbled to be invited as assistant coach of WTC and is hoping that his fitness experiences will once again help our Canadian players in preparing for the upcoming World Championship in Zug, Switzerland.
