(3)Primetime vs UHC(5)
UHC explode early with 4 first period goals
Primetime didn’t know what hit them when the UHC took the court on Wednesday night. In the short span of only four minutes, the UHC managed to score four times. A couple of those goals came as fast as cannon balls. P.Elizardo scored twice in that span to put his team up 4-1 after the first period. Far from done, Primetime regrouped as the game went on. The men in blue scored once in every frame all coming with the man advantage only to fall short. The UHC didn’t help their cause spending plenty of time in the penalty box but it didn’t matter in the end. S.DelGaudio also scored twice in the win. J.Sanoudakis faced 26 shots to earn the victory in net and would have likely allowed less if not for some unnecessary penalties from his teammates.
(3)HC Inter vs Fat Cats(6)
Fat Cats secure win over HC Inter in third period rally
It took only ten seconds for this contest to change direction. The HC Inter led 3-1 at one point but couldn’t hold their lead as the Fat Cats battled back to take the game. The turning point occurred when S.Hrivnack and F.Atkinson scored in the short span of only ten seconds to put the Fat Cats up 4-3 in the third period. After being awarded a late power play chance, the Fat Cats buried a fifth goal by D.Brunetti to secure the win. The Fat Cats had no heroes in this contest with six players finding the back of the net. G.Sangiovanni kept his team in it despite being down to start the season on the right track.
(3)Les Raymonds vs RBK Knights(5)
Short bench comes to haunt Les Raymonds in season opener
Unless Les Raymonds had two M.Deninno’s in their lineup, this result was to be expected. Les Raymonds had only seven players dressed and got all their scoring done by M.Deninno. To his help, N.Beaudry found the sniper on all three occasions. But this just goes to show that a better prepared team usually prevails. The RBK Knights used their full bench over the 45 minutes to grind out their opponent. And it showed by the third period where they won the frame 2-0.R.Manek scored his second early in the third period right before J.Zeitounian sealed it with his clubs fifth goal of the night.
(1)Chaos vs Hellfish(9)
Hellfish avoid championship hangover with authority
It was only a week ago that the Hellfish lifted the F Wednesday trophy, and with barley time to celebrate it, the men in red showed no signs of slowing down in their season debut. After jumping off to a 2-0 first period lead, the flood gates opened by the second. M.Chartrand scored two very quick goals as part of his eventual hat trick. D.Laurin and J.Rodriguez found the back of the net twice while J.Roblin got the other goal for the Hellfish. Chaos had the unfortunate task of going up against the recent champs. G.Dantiste gave Chaos something to celebrate as the only player to solve B.Verducci. It’s not the start they hoped for, but the season is young and time will only make things better for a club that’s been out of action for a while.
(4)Scorpions vs Horsemen(3) O.T
Scorpions wear their smiles early in overtime
With the help of a 4 on 3 power play opportunity, the Scorpions made sure to cease the moment. F.Martin ended the game after receiving passes from C.Fragkiudakis and B.Richard just 30 seconds into the sudden death frame. The Scorpions had the chance to take it in regulation time but couldn’t hold off C.Doulis, who tied the game fairly late on the power play. Evenly matched, this game could have gone either way. Both goalies faced the same amount of shots. P.Patel got awarded the win over his counterpart M.Vinciguerra.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Francis Martin of the Scorpions. The Scorpions forward ended the night after bagging the O.T winner vs the Horsemen.
