Venom win shootout battle, Team X responds with authority
At no point did Venom trail in the opening game, but a shootout was still necessary for the positive result. J.Samaha and A.Jalilvand each scored only two minutes apart in the first period lifting Venom to a 2-0 lead. Determined to finish the frame strong, Team X notched two late goals to level the game. The second period was similar to the first with Venom jumping ahead. T.Perluzzo buried a power play goal which forced J.Kontitsis to tie the game once more for Team X. Each side tried their luck in the shootout. Unable to solve M.Trivisonno , all three shooters were snake bitten by the net minder. Venom got two out of their three goals in the breakaways courtesy of B.Deslauriers and J.Samaha. Despite dropping the contest, Team X played well enough to win the game and it showed even more in their second encounter. J.Pantelis dressed up for the first time, and with no hesitation, the skilled forward made plenty happen. His four helpers and one goal provided the extra offence needed giving Team X a 6-2 lead after one period. J.Kontitsis benefited on three occasions by the new addition while A.Lanni scored twice. No matter how hard Team X tried to formulate a game plan towards B.Desaluriers, the power forward somehow finds a way. Venom got two goals, two helpers and a shootout marker by their sniper. In the end, it was all about damage control. Team X showed instant chemistry with some new faces to their lineup and look to be in fine form early in the season.

1 Timer and Jokers trade identical scores
With both games featuring only five goals, the 1 Timer captured the opening contest in the shootout while the Jokers took the second game in regulation time. M.Gagnon netted an early goal and the Jokers led 1-0 up until J.Guye-Perrault tied the game on the power play. Each side had three power play chances and attempted the same amount of shots towards the net minders. The only slight difference in this contest was in the shootout where T.Daigneault notched the lone tally. After netting an early goal in the second contest, the 1 Timer saw their offense go dry the rest of the way. The Jokers bounced back when the very same M.Gagnon tied the game on a feed by A.Balais. With goals very hard to come by, both sides knew the importance of the next one. The Jokers were the ones to break the spell when A.Sarrigiannis snapped the dreaded 1-1 tie. Fromm there, the match went into shutdown mode for the defending champs. A.Mancini had to face plenty of quality chances to earn a hard fought win.
