T.Bozinakis, C.Stamadionis lead Icons to 5-4 ot win over Bulls

C.Stamadionis’s second goal of the game three minutes into overtime lifted the Icons to a thrilling 5-4 win over the Bramabulls on Tuesday night. The Icons also got scoring by T.Bozinakis who riffled a pair by the second period. Both sides came off championship seasons which made them both clearly hungry for victory. In a game that could have gone either way, C.Stamadionis gave his club plenty to cheer about after receiving a perfect feed by G.Chountalos. Despite the loss, T.Karasek looks to be in very good form producing points on every goal that included a pair of tallies.

M.Raimondo timely shorthanded goal holds up as winner

Scoring with a player less occasionally happens in ball hockey but the Smackdaddys won’t be digesting it to easily after dropping this contest. Rather than tying the game on their power play, M.Raimondo doubled the lead for Team Finland with a brilliant shorthanded effort. The Smackdaddys did eventually respond late in the second period when M.Chenier finally solved J.Lombardi. With still plenty of time left over, the Smackdaddys couldn’t force the extra time. J.Lombardi faced over 23 shots allowing only one goal. At the other end, S.Morante was equally as sharp denying 23 of 25 shots.

Smooth Sailors four first period goals hold up barely in victory

The Icons must not have seen this coming. After capturing a victory only an hour ago, the Icons got stunned early allowing four first period goals. In that span, M.Testolina began the onslaught striking twice, M.Cerrone netted a power play goal and N.DeGregorio ended the frame strong for a 4-0 lead. The Smooth Sailors had to have been glad to get that kind of the start to the game because the second period was completely one sided. The Icons returned the favor netting four goals of their own. P.Assadi hit the net twice during that sequence setting up a third period for the taking. After five minutes of play, M.Testolina came back to haunt his opponent. The shifty forward collected his third goal of the night and set up two more teammates for empty net markers.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Chris Stamadianos of the Icons. After scoring a third period goal, Stamadianos netted his clubs biggest tally in overtime to start the season on the right track.
