(2)Nighthawks vs Romans(6)
Romans pull away in second to rout Nighthawks
For one period, the Nighthawks put up a fight but that was as good as it got as the Romans pulled away by the second. D.Lonardi and A.Mirolla each scored second period goals for the Romans, who never looked back improving to a 4-2 record. The Nighthawks struggled to keep up with their rivals unable to get much by A.Grieco. The net minder faced his fair share of shots and did a splendid job shutting the door for two straight periods. S.Scarpelli got the ball rolling providing the Romans first two goals of the game.
(2)Les Aces vs Butchers (1)
Late tally propels Aces over Butchers
A goal by A.Brisebois with only 15 seconds left in the game helped give Les Aces a hard fought win over the Butchers. Les Aces never once trailed throughout the night, but played to an even 1-1 tie for nearly two frames. The goaltenders may have stolen the show in this contest with D.Brousseau denying 24 shots to earn the win over his counterpart. The first goal of the night belonged to D.Senecal coming only three minutes into the game. The win gives Les Aces a huge three points to the standings as they leaped the Butchers for that last playoff spot.
(4)Shockers vs Hit List(5) O.T
J.Daoust’s power play goal in overtime leads Hit List past Shockers
Already with a pair of helpers, the Hit List captain S.Trudel sent a perfect ball to J.Daoust to end the match in overtime. The Hit List were under three minutes away fromm taking the contest in regulation time, but that changed when K.Simon buried his third goal of the night for a hat trick. J-F Huppe had a good sequence bagging two second period tallies in just over four minutes for the Hit List. On their three attempts, the Shockers made the best with their power play scoring twice with the man advantage. This came as a big win for the Hit List, who can breathe a little easier for the time being.
(3)Brew Crew vs Butchers (2)
Butchers suffers second straight heartbreaking loss
After suffering a late set back earlier on against Les Aces, this contest was just a carbon copy of their previous match. The Butchers couldn’t catch a break in their two close battles of a double header night. Each side traded two first period goals before going on a long scoring drought. With special teams being a big part of the game, the Brew Crew seized the moment when the Butchers took a late penalty. And who other than you most clutch player to come through. D.Verta, after coming off a hat trick performance only a week ago was able to provide a game changing power play goal with only two minutes remaining. The Brew Crew led twice getting goals by P.Karigiannis and D.Storozuk while the Butchers got their scoring done by C.Maltese and A.Bouvier.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Stephane Trudel of the Hit List. The captain used his great vision to set up three goals that included a pass on the sudden death winner.
