Wednesday December 7 (Semi Finals)
(7)Les Boys vs Scorpions(3) F2 Game 1
Scorpions couldn’t stop the bleeding, give up six unanswered goals
Up until the twelve minute mark of the second period, the Scorpions couldn’t have asked for a better performance. F.Martin had scored twice and H.Trahan was looking like nothing was getting by him anymore. But once T.Karvouriaris scored to narrow the gap, this contest was headed in a different direction. It’s no wonder that Les Boys finished with high 69 goals for in only ten game of a regular season. After tying the game 3-3 and heading into the final frame, M.Gagnon snapped the tie on the power play which set the tone for more goals to come. J.Fidrilis scored twice in that span that included Les Boy’s second power play goal on four attempts. This loss may feel bitter for the Scorpions, but they still aren’t out of it yet knowing that they’ve played well enough for two periods.
(2)Horsemen vs Fat Cats(3) F2 Game 1
Third time’s a charm, Fat Cats protect late lead
Although the Fat Cats managed to grab leads, they weren’t able to build on it long enough as the Horsemen struck twice to level the game. But with less than three minutes remaining in the match, G.Sangiovanni and his defence made sure to protect it the rest of the way. The Fat Cats got a late tally by E.Panzera after receiving a pass by J.Scalia. Each side struggled to get much of a groove going with the amount of penalty minutes taken. With this game out of the way, the Horsemen will look to adjust and find a solution to try and strike first. For now, both sides will wait a week before going at it again.
(3)Primetime vs Hellfish(8) F3 Game 1
Hellfish take advantage of missing top guns
For the Hellfish, it didn’t matter that A.Petrucco and L.Haouzi were out of the line up, but for Primetime it proved to be costly on this night .Regardless the reasons for the loss, Primetime may look back and have only themselves to blame. They managed to build a 2-0 first period lead before collapsing in a big way by the second. The Hellfish regrouped in between frames and came out storming erupting with six unanswered goals. M.Chartrand and F.Benhamadi tallied twice while D.Laurin used a big power play goal to take a 4-2 lead. Chartrand wasn’t done yet completing his hat trick by the third period. N.Bourgeois continues to roll as well as the forward accumulated five more points. After facing 28 shots, B.Verducci held his ground not allowing a goal for over two periods.
(7)UHC vs United Arms(4) F3 Game 1
UHC use special teams goals to outlast resilient United Arms
Despite tying the game on three occasions, the United Arms couldn’t get that lead they hoped for. The UHC used three special teams goals, and a one sided third period to take the opening game of the series. B.Patel came through snapping a 4-4 tie with the man advantage. Already with a pair of helpers, M.Cristiano made sure to cap off the win by providing two late insurance markers. The United Arms aren’t concerned with their goal scoring ability. J-F Aumais showed that with two goals and an assist but their defensive game will need to tighten up in order to survive the round. With a week to think about it, G.Missakian will make the adjustments required in hopes of extending the series.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Eric Panzera of the Fat Cats. The Fat Cats forward avoided overtime by netting a huge goal late in the game. That was his second point in a tight 3-2 win over the Horsemen.
