Sunday August 27(Semi finals)
(6)Shockers vs Butchers(2) Game 1
Shockers came ready to play, Butchers unable to recover
The Shockers erupted with three first period goals, pounding the Butchers 6-2 to jump start their post season. After dropping a frustrating 2-0 loss towards the end of the regular season, the Shockers rebounded with a big offensive night. C.Debonis wasted no time using his signature wrist shot to beat G.Zapatelli early on. Unable to get anything going, the Butchers eventually got on board courtesy of a power play goal by A.DeSua. That limited scoring didn’t do much in the end as T.DeBonis bagged two tallies putting the game out of reach. D.Bourque wasn’t too busy getting plenty of help-from everyone in front of him. The net minder faced barely 20 shots giving up only two goals. With this result, the Butchers realise that they need a good start in game two or this series will be done sooner than later.
(8)Fatal Demons vs Team Cuba(3)
From-bad to worse, Team Cuba fail to weather the storm
In only four minutes-from the opening draw, Team Cuba didn’t know what hit them. The Fatal Demons came out flying nothing three quick goals that would ultimately doom their opponents. Despite turning a 4-0 deficit in half, Team Cuba couldn’t catch up giving up the next three tallies. L.Dulcetta and M.Chenier each scored twice while D.Ugaldez got credited the winner. M.Trivisonno couldn’t have asked for a better defensive game in front of him having faced 25 shots. S.Robineault did solve him twice but it really didn’t matter with the kind of lead the Fatal Demons had. Just like in the Shockers vs Butchers series, the same formula will apply to Team Cuba if they hope to bounce back, and that is to get the better start in game two.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Mathieu Chenier of the Fatal Demons. The speedy forward was all over the court accumulating two goals and a pair of assists in a big game one win over Team Cuba.
