(3)National vs Hawks(4)
Hawks survive third period push by National
There's no denying that the National best efforts were in full force on Friday night. Unfortunately, they just ran into a stingy defence and solid goaltending by P.Assadi that resulted in a very close loss. The Hawks capitalised on their chances thanks to a pair of goals by A.Zarzour, and made it a priority to play a suffocating man on man game. For the large part, National controlled much of the play but found themselves kept to the outside. P.Assadi had his night cut out for him, forced to be very alert having faced nearly 30 shots to earn his first win in net. While the Hawks will take this one as a moral victory, the National know that they'll be just fine if they play the same way all season long.
(3)Devil Dawgz vs HBHA Seniors(6)
HBHA Seniors start season with aim to defend title
With a couple of changes to their line up, the HBHA Seniors will look to do more noise in the Masters division. The addition of P.Koutsogiannopoulos just made matters worse for the opposition as the skilled forward wasted no time making his mark. Out of their six goals, the lethal forward collected five points that included a hat trick. T.Baltzis contributed as well with a pair while P.Karigiannis notched the other tally. Despite the loss, the Devil Dawgz didn't make things easy on themselves when considering playing with only three changes. A.Jalilvand ,A.Guillaume and P.Paikopoulos each scored for the Devil Dawgz, who will look to build on their current roster.
(5)Stones vs Blacksox(3)
Stones score 4 unanswered goals to down Blacksox
It took some time but the Stones eventually found their way to pull away-from the Blacksox. Both sides kept it close for the large part trading some decent chances. The Stones trailed 2-1 and used a solid finish to the second period to grab a 3-2 lead. Still, the Blacksox weren't out of it until they gave up two very quick goals that ultimately put the game to rest. E.Allen struck for his second that held up for the winner .The Blacksox, considering that some of their players were out of action for a while, showed that they could still compete and make things difficult for any opponent. It's just a question of time before they shake off some rust.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Peter Koutsogiannopoulos of the HBHA Seniors. In his first game of the Masters division, Koutsogiannopoulos added to an already solid core collecting three goals and a pair of helpers.
