Underdogs finish season strong with identical scores over Walking Tall

Captain Joseph Constantin emphasizes a defense-first system, and it's proven to be a winning formula as they just took two versus the Walking Tall for a first place finish. By grabbing sufficient leads in both their games, the Walking Tall were forced finding ways to bounce back. The only time they led was early on in the second contest, but that barely lasted with a response of three quick goals by the Underdogs. Another reason for their success comes with the ability of all their players pinching in one way or another. No one scored twice in the same contest, but M.Boutros, A.Zarzour, D.Masour and M-A Haber did collect two goals each by the end of the night. The Underdogs will have a chance to clinch first place on the condition that the Degenerates fail to get enough points in their remaining games.

A.Dayan, J.Chiropoulos the two headed monster powering Punishers

Two of the finest players of the division made it look easy on Monday night. Together, they form a formidable combination of skill and hockey sense that picked apart the Jokers defense and net minder. Out of their 13 goals combined in both games, A.Dayan led the charge with six tallies and two assists while Chiropoulos struck four times as part of an eight point performance. At no point were the Jokers able to keep up. S-A Longo was the only player to get his club on board making P.Stamkopoulos look behind him for a rare time. This contest concluded the regular season for both teams. The Punishers sit on top with a 16-4 record for an impressive 49 points while the Jokers are presently lingering in the middle of the pack with still some games remaining-from other teams.

F.Koch, wizard between the pipes for 1 Timer

The Degenerates were unable to overcome F.Koch enough times for some precious points to the standings. Koch was simply masterful, stopping 39 of 43 shots while allowing only one goal on six shootout attempts. It was just a frustrating overall night for the Degenerates forwards. Even a 2-0 lead in the second game wasn't good enough. The 1 Timer stormed back with three straight goals that eventually ended in a second consecutive shootout. After taking the opener 2-1courtesy of a perfect wrist shot-from K.Gagne, the very same d-man popped another beauty in the second shootout that was followed with S.Gravel's winner. The 1 Timer had the luxury of solid goaltending and capitalized when they needed to in order to collect a pair of hard fought wins.

The Corporation only pulls away late after back and forth action with Rebels

In a four period format consisting of two mini games, neither side ever led expect for the final period. The first game ended in a 5-5 draw before J.Pantelis and K.Araujo won it in a shootout for the Corporation, and the first period of the second game also ended in a tie. Then, things took a completely different direction. The Corporation simply overpowered the Rebels with seven goals averaging nearly one a minute. The Rebels had no choice to open up the game, and by doing so, the counter attacks of the Corporation just made matters worse as they were capitalizing on nearly every chance. J.Pantelis finished the night strong with three consecutive goals as did A.Bergomi, who riffled a pair while setting up Pantelis twice.

Les Immigrant force Hustlers to work every inch

Maybe it came to expected that the Hustlers did what they did in the opening contest. All of their players moved the ball quickly and like they often do, they created plenty of quality chances that resulted in seven goals. But the same couldn't be said for the second encounter. And although the Hustlers took the match, Les Immigrant made sure that they would sweat it out till the buzzer sounded. The score was tied 3-3 in the second period until a four minute power play decided the outcome. Giving that kind of time and space to a team like the Hustlers will always spell a recipe for disaster. T.Bozinakis was the one who snapped the tie, and the Hustlers had to kill just over three minutes in order to secure the win. It came in a losing cause but S.Jankouzian was a thorn all night long scoring twice while setting up A.Daghlian.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Anthony Dayan of the Punishers. Every time he would touch the ball something happened. The Punishers forward danced his way to six goals and two assists in convincing wins over the Jokers.
