Captain J.Palmitano leads way again for Mighty Boyz

J.Palmitano was at his high scoring best again. The captain had a hat trick in the opening game to help his club beat Les Reds 4-1.The Mighty Boyz were clearly ready to start the night posting three first period unanswered goals. Despite their bad start, Les Reds adjusted by the second encounter focusing on a tighter game plan. They still allowed the first goal but responded early in the second period to keep the game tied. Neither side was than able to crack the barrier which led to a shootout. F.Nasser struck first for Les Reds and P.Lucas responded for the Mighty Boyz as the only two players to score in the breakaways. Once again, M.Palmieri didn't disappoint as the goaltender stood solid allowing only two goals in as many games.

Breakout night for the Tocas captain, Chic Choc modifies for a split decision

At any given time, S.Marricco will cause nightmares for the defence and goaltender. The Chic Choc had to deal with S.Marricco driving to the net and stood witnessing the sniper bury four goals in what was a high scoring affair. The first game appeared to be put to rest with the Tocas jumping off to a 4-0 lead. And regardless taking the contest, it wasn't anywhere close-form what they were expecting. The Chic Choc erased a terrible sequence by responding in massive way posting all five of their goals in the final frame. Unfortunately, they just couldn't reach in time. The good news for the Chic Choc was that they knew a different outcome was in the making by the second game. By finishing strong, they managed the strike first and build a 3-1 lead on scoring efforts-from M-A Verville, M.Laroche and J-R Lemay. Another key reason for the win came courtesy of their net minder. F.Peloquin was able to shake off a bad start by getting himself back on track for the second match.

Mighty Drunks misses out for maximum points

Its one thing to defeat the Punishers once, but to do it twice, is quite improbable considering how strong they are this season. However, the Mighty Drunks missed out on an opportunity to do it twice simply because the Punishers didn't have all their key players. Granted, they did take the opening game barely by a 4-3 margin. The Punishers knew that if they wanted to even the miniseries that a good start would be the key in the second game. In the first period alone, N.Pitsikoulis struck first and C.Stamadianos posted back to back tallies to catch their opponent off guard. The Mighty Drunks perhaps didn't see that coming and were forced to play like they did in the opening contest if they planned to complete a productive night. And even though the improvement was there on behalf of the trailing side, there was almost no way that the Punishers would let this one slip away. Both sides traded two second period goals that saw Stamadianos complete his hat trick.

Newly added M.Carpentier saves the night for the 1 Timer

When the 1 Timer led 3-0 after one period, they had all but sealed the victory. But somehow it wasn't over. The United Arms scored five goals in just over six minutes to come-from behind and steal a victory that the 1 Timer thought they had. The comeback was led by a few factors, but perhaps G.Jerjian being the key reason as the forward scored twice while adding an assist. Soon after that game, the 1 Timer had to shake off a heartbreaking defeat and re focus if they planned on evening the score. For a second straight encounter, they dominated the first period, this time building a 2-0 lead heading into the final frame. Still, nothing would be set in stone for a side who just came off a collapsing defeat. However knowing this, the 1 Timer took nothing for granted and made sure to play a fill committed period. M.Carpentier had dressed for the first time this season and made an immediate impact with three goals that included two in the final twelve minutes. To his help, J.Dias set up three markers while J.Guye-Perrault and S.Gravel each had two assists.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Joey Palmitano of the Mighty Boyz. The captain was a significant reason why his club collected four out of a possible six points. The power forward riffled a hat trick in the first game, added a key assist in the second and nearly won it in the shootout only to get denied.
