P.Turturici and P.Corbin shine in goaltending duel

Les Carmoni fell to Les Reds by a 2-1 shootout but were able to respond in what was another outstanding goaltending display. Only three total goals went in out of the four periods. The two net minders combined for 53 saves with P.Corbin recording a shutout in the second encounter. After settling for a 1-1 draw in the opening contest, F.Nasser was the only player to figure out the breakaways. The slick defenseman used his long reach to wrist a perfect shot past Corbin. The second match had a similar reflection of the first one. The only difference being that only one goal was scored courtesy of J.Meynard. Les Carmoni took their slight 1-0 lead early in the second period and never looked back to even the score with Les Reds.

1 Timer completes comeback en route to a pair of wins

If the first handful of minutes was an indication of what was to come, then the 1 Timer would have endured a long night. Instead, they got their act together and mounted a remarkable comeback to take the opening contest 4-2. The relentless effort was led-from every single player that saw four different goal scorers get involved. As much as they merited the win, the 1 Timer wanted more than to just sit back in the second contest. And it showed as they continued-from where they left off adding four more goals. In this particular case, S.Gravel provided much of the offense striking twice while setting up the game winner. The Chic Choc started both matches on the right track but were nowhere to be seen in the second periods where they gave up six of their eight goals.

The Corporation double dip for six clean points

Neither side would argue that their goaltenders gave them a chance to win. And while both the Tocas and the Corporation generated plenty of quality chances, it was only a question of time before something had to give. Tied 1-1 after one period, G.DeMarinis was able to figure out how to get the better of G.Castilloux. His tally put the Corporation in front 2-1 which happened to be just enough for L.Dias to take care of the rest. The second game was not at all a reflection of the first. This time, the Corporation opened the flood gates striking three times in both frames to once again double up their opponent. G.DeMarinis continued his onslaught adding two more tallies while J.Scalia had the most points assisting twice along with a goal. Despite grabbing both wins, the Corporation couldn't afford to let go of the gas pedal against a side that kept pressing all game long.

Vitamin C bring Degenerates back to earth

Even though the Degenerates took the opening contest by a 5-2 score, the Vitamin C decided that enough was enough for the unbeaten side. Perhaps the major reasons for the downfall was due to the energy and compete level put forth by the Vitamin C. In the first eight minutes alone of the second contest, F.Catanzariti and J.DiMarco each scored twice to put the Degenerates on their heels. At that point, there was almost no way the Vitamin C would allow the Degenerates to battle back, even though they applied plenty of pressure. B.Madonis knew he had to be sharp and did a brilliant job frustrating some of his opponents making one key save after the other.

Hustlers & Punishers square off in battle of the heavyweights

When giants collide, expect some tremors. Tonight's battle involved arguably the top two teams to beat in the first division. And while they all have the attributes required as hockey players, defence and goaltending dominated the stage in both games. The first encounter saw both sides trade only one goal in regulation time and one goal in the shootout resulting in a 2-2 draw. With that contest out of the way, the second meeting would follow the blue prints of the previous match. The only difference being was that the Hustlers took advantage of a power opportunity. The match was levelled at one goal apiece when P.Assadi struck for his second with the man advantage. Now, many would assume that the Punishers would get at least one more goal considering how much fire power and time they had. Unfortunately for them, they just couldn't find enough of that space going up against a smothering defence and stellar ball stopper in C.Stavriadis .Both sides can equally thank the net minders in tonight's case. F.Russo did all he possibly could to give the Punishers a better outcome.
