Les Immigrant edge defending champs Chic Choc early before settling for split
Les Immigrant goaltender R.Ricaurte stopped all 18 shots he faced through regulation, and A.Addante along with A.Daghlian each scored in the shootout to provide an early season win. Neither side could have asked for a better performance-from their net minders. Despite the scoreless tie, the game did not lack excitement with both goaltenders stealing the show. Unhappy with the way things ended, Chic Choc had higher expectations heading into the second match. This time they found a way to generate more quality chances resulting in two goals per period. The turning point occurred in the final frame when Y.Belkassem scored to level the game at three goals apiece. Then, only a minute later, E.Gacem put the Chic Choc in front with his second and F.Peloquin made sure that nothing was going by him with half a period remaining. Both games were so evenly matched that a split did justice for the two sides.

Dragons earn extra points in tight challenge with Yellow T-Shirts
With the first game favouring the Dragons 2-1 on a pair of slap shots-from G.DeMarinis and D.Gagnon, the second encounter needed the entire distance for the Yellow T-shirts to even the score. The holiday break showed signs of rust but both sides did an overall fine job keeping the games close. Pedram Assadi was huge in the opener making a few quality saves limiting the Yellow T-Shirts to only one goal. However, the Yellow T-Shirts felt it was only a question of time for their offense to kick into gear. And even though they broke out with three goals, it still wasn't enough to settle it in regulation time. This contest needed a shootout courtesy of two markers along with a flawless performance by M.Trivisonno. T.Bergomi, despite being out of action for a very long period, didn't seem to miss a beat for the Yellow T-Shirts as the sound defenseman provided all three points in the win. On the other end of the court, D.Gagnon was the Dragons best player, also as a defenseman accumulating a total of three goals in both games.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to David Gagnon of the Dragons. After collecting the game winner in the first game versus the Yellow T-Shirts, D.Gagnon gave the Dragons every chance possible for the sweep by adding two more in the second contest.
