(4)Scorpions vs Horsemen (5)
Horsemen put forth full throttle in first game of double header night
It's not your ideal situation finding yourself at the basement of the standings while starring out of a playoff spot with only two wins to show for. But for the Horsemen, all they can do is bring out their best and take it one game at a time. The good news was that they came prepared with a full line up primed to play serious hockey. By applying a desperate effort, the Horsemen did prevail. Five different players found the back of the net which only suggested that everyone was on board. M.Mamoulides got credited the winner, and M.Vinciguerra captured the win in net after a late push-from the Scorpions.
(7)Left Wings vs Mighty Drunks (0)
D.Provost-Jarry making scoring look easy with hat trick
It's gotten to the point that if the Left Wings are to score many goals that D.Provost-Jarry will be involved in one way or another. The rugged forward was a menace scoring shorthanded while eventually completing his hat trick just prior to the mid way point of the match. The Left Wings didn't have much resistance blanking every frame with at least two tallies. In attempts to getting at least one goal, the Mighty Drunks went empty handed on this night. B.Verducci was the reason why as the net minder stopped all 22 shots his way.
(2)Buckshots vs Horsemen (4)
Horsemen rally to save their season, Buckshots miss out on golden opportunity
Up 2-0 after two periods, the Buckshots had all the control they needed in order to solidify a playoff spot. The Horsemen looked to be dead and done with up until something special happened in the third period. Somehow, someway, they rose-from the dead riffling four straight markers to pull the rug-from under the Buckshots feet. Again, the win came courtesy of an overall team effort that involved balanced scoring. B.Rubino had set up his captain V.Pandza and T.Karasek before netting the go ahead marker with less than three minutes remaining on the clock. Despite the crushing defeat, the Buckshots still controlled their destiny in an ensuing match versus the Fat Roy.
(3)Knights vs Carnage (9)
Carnage steamroll Knights after tight opening period
The Knights can't be too pleased as of late and will be searching for some serious answers heading into the post season. Even though they have four wins, their last one only dates back six games ago which must feel like an eternity for S.Sauk and his teammates. They did manage a good first period tied 2-2 but that was as good as it got. Carnage would eventually take over and leave the Knights in their rear view mirror. P.Lomascolo, A.Abbandonato and M.Pace surged with two goals apiece. The concerning part about this result for the Knights was that they needed some help in the following encounter between the Bucskshots and Fat Roy in order to get in.
(5)Buckshots vs Fat Roy(6)
Buckshots playoff hopes end in loss to Fat Roy
Unable to collect at least a point, the Buckshots will be watching-from the sidelines this season. The start of the game looked promising as they posted two power play goals, as did the third period where they finished strong on three markers. It was all that time in between where nothing seemed to go right. Fat Roy showed no mercy and worried only about what they needed to do. N.Gikas was once again a force as the young spark plug hit the target three times for a hat trick. The winner did come off the blade of T.Fernando, who collected three points.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Bryan Rubino of the Horsemen. The sound and steady defenseman did more than take care of his back end. In what was a very important double header night for the Horsemen, B.Rubino was masterful, collecting four big points to help lead his club to a playoff spot.
The F Wednesday regular season came to an end. The top six out of seven teams will be headed for the post season. The top two seeds will skip the first round while the remaining four spots will play in a do or die game. The Match ups are as follows:
(1)Mighty Drunks BYE
(2)Carnage BYE
(3)Fat Roy vs Knights(6) Unless the Knights figure out a way to turn around their season, look for Fat Roy to prevail. C.Zafiropoulos will have his troops prepared and rely on his weapons such as N.Gikas and J.Pantelis to produce up front.
(4)Horsemen vs Scorpions (5) Both teams played tonight in a game that could have gone either way. Expect next week's match up to be the same as both sides will grind it out for a full 45 minutes or more.
