J.Chiropoulos, C.Gingras and C.Gagnon dominant in second match for Punishers

While the Communists set out to try and stop them, the click between J.Chiropoulos, C.Gingras and C.Gagnon played a huge factor in the second game of the miniseries. All three players clicked throughout the entire match combining for eleven points. Prior to that game, both sides played to an even 2-2 draw. After trailing twice, A.Cote evened the score on both occasions for the Punishers. The shootout saw no one beat the net minders as N.Mackeen and M.Melo of the Communists stole the show denying all three attempts. For a rare time this season, the Communists had a deep line up. The problem was that they went up against a solid Punishers team that can beat you at any given time. D.Provost-Jarry once again continues to be a force for the Communists as the pesky forward collected three out of a possible four points.

Les Yables stuck facing tough test with short bench

Les Yables knew they had their work cut out for them on Monday night. By playing with only two changes versus the Armadillos, a near perfect game was required or taking a lead in hopes of protecting it long enough. Unfortunately, they fell behind in both games and were stuck playing against a stingy defence and solid net minder in C.Stavriadis. G.Bouchard opened and closed the scoring in the first encounter to help provide a 4-3 victory. The second match strangely needed P.Lapointe to feed an empty cage on two occasions to collect the winner in a close 3-2 result. Les Yables notched both their goals very late to spoil C.Stravriadis's shutout. Perhaps the biggest story of these encounters was the incredible play of Les Yables's captain. A.Gervais was an absolute force riffling all five goals for his club.

Tocas letting precious points slip away

It was right there for the taking. Even though they collected only one pint in the first game, the Tocas appeared to be heading for a much needed win in the ensuing match. Up 2-1 after one period, things looked promising up until one player shattered the hopes of a team in desperate need for points. S.Robineault, in the blink of an eye turned a deficit into a slight lead for the Dragons. To his help, G.DeMarinis set up twice as part of a four point performance. The game winner came shortly after the Tocas took a four minute penalty. Entering the night, the Tocas knew that they had their work cut out for them. And despite putting up a good challenge, collecting a single point may not cut it. The good news is that they still hold the cards but it will take a full out perfect night in order to get it done.

Yellow T-Shirts show determination in important clash with Immigrant

The Yellow T-Shirts showed some character and swagger-from the very first shift, and it paid dividends on Monday night. The message was loud and clear that in order to secure a playoff spot, a single regulation victory was required. They did manage to take the opening game in a shootout but it still wasn't enough for what they were aiming for. The second game saw everyone pushing even harder, and in result two straight goals had gone in. Les Immigrant did cut the lead in half on a power play goal-from A.Daghlian just prior to the period ending. That tally never once fazed the Yellow T-Shirts, who immediately responded in the second period to regain a two goal margin. By carrying that kind of a lead, there was almost no chance that Les Immigrant would put themselves back in the game, especially the way the Yellow Shirts defended. S.Sauk was stellar and a big reason why his club collected five out of a possible six points.
