A.Lanni aging like fine wine

A.Lanni’s return has been a huge success so far the Brewers. After being out of action due to injury, the Brewers captain made quite an impact versus the Family on Thursday night. Lanni looked like he never missed a day along with his confidence which led in an impressive three goal performance in the first game followed with plenty of play making skills in the second encounter where he notched four helpers. Even his own teammates had their heads scratching. He did have the right surrounding with D.Verta setting him twice while A.Papazian made him look good closing off four straight markers. The Family was pretty much undone-from a team clearly ready to play. If not for the final minute of the night, G.Platanitis would have walked out with a perfect sheet. The net minder was on his way for a second straight shutout until S.Cavallaro spoiled it late in the game.

Too many no shows for a team that prides themselves on defense

Losing is one thing, but the way the Dragons lost both their games versus the RCGT Knights left some reason of concern to J.DeStefano and the rest of the Dragons. From-poor ball management, defensive breakdowns and too many no shows translated into giving up eight goals in each of the two games. Now that’s not to take away some of the fire power the RCGT Knights have in their arsenal. Players like S.Ruggiero, who was an absolute thorn couldn’t be contained as the sniper tore it up posting a total of eight goals. The night just went bad early on for the Dragons as they immediately found themselves in a hole down 6-0 after just over seven minutes into the first period. They did have an opportunity to adjust in the ensuing match but not much came of it. The RCGT were clearly deserving of the two results.

Pylons outmatched versus Fatal Demons

It’s the price you pay when having to pace yourself due to a short bench going up against a well balanced Fatal Demons side. The Pylons were stuck defending, chasing and hoping for their chances to come. Although some opportunities arose, R.Ranieri was still there to deny them. The Fatal Demons knew playing with the lead would put them in the drivers seat. M.Destounis and S.Marricco each scored in the first period and the Pylons were in trouble despite plenty of time left over. The focus at one point was to try and adjust for the second game. They did manage a better start where they finally got to Ranieri. O.Valiquette broke the spell collecting four points for the Pylons and  tied the game at four goals a piece by the mid way point of the final frame. Knowing that they had only six minutes to play before hitting the shootouts, the Pylons felt they had a shot at it. Unfortunately they got beat by someone who was a menace- from the drop of the ball. After being awarded the game winner if the opening contest, M.Destounis reached his hat trick on a blistering slap shot to snap the tie. Even with time left over, the Pylons felt deflated and weren’t able to recover as the Fatal Demons widened the gap shortly after.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Anthony Lanni. Although there can be an argument made for S.Ruggiero of the RCGT Knights and M.Destounis of the Fatal Demons, the Brewers captain will merit the honour. The pesky forward was extremely productive scoring a natural hat trick, adding four helpers while nursing an injury.
