Classics wait till final stretch to ignite offense in spilt with 1 Timer

Much of the first game flew by with no notable concerns, both sides trading shots and chances only  to have both goaltenders keep the game scoreless for as long as possible. Things looked like neither side would get on board, that was until G.Saulner of the 1 Timer figured out P.Assadi.  The Classics offense hit a rough patch denting the goal posts and crossbars more than enough times while stifled by F.Koch ,who was brilliant stopping all 19 shots for a shutout. Throughout the beginning of the second game, F.Koch and the 1 Timer continued to restrict the Classics attack allowing only one goal in three straight periods. With that rhythm, it seemed like there wasn’t much the Classics could have done to bounce back into the game. And even though the offense appeared tentative, the sense of urgency kicked into play for the Classics. The desperation eventually paid off and in a big way when G.Lallis evened the score at four goals apiece which was immediately followed by Y.Derohannessian’s buzzer beater. That tally was the Classics only lead of the night which proved to be just enough for a split versus a resilient opponent. The Classics got their contributions by committee while the 1 Timer leaned on G.Saulner and P-A Surprenant to do all of their scoring.

HC Jokerit breaking teams by the second game

It seems to be a common theme for the HC Jokerit to start their games off sloppy or just trying to find their legs. The problem is that they fall so far behind that all they have is the second game to look forward to. The Hart Foundation handed them a beat down posting six straight goals while keeping a clean score sheet thanks to P.Delli Colli earning the shutout. Finally things started to pick up for the HC Jokerit. Both sides were deadlocked 2-2 early in the final frame that saw R.Kilgour bury his second for the Hart Foundation. Then, the tides turned and the HC Jokerit used their high energy adding three unanswered en route to a 5-2 win. They opened up and focused their strength solely on attack. By moving the ball quickly, the lanes opened up and the Hart Foundation found themselves on their heels unable to slow down the pressure. S.Amaral didn’t score but was responsible for setting up three teammates while N.Paccicco notched a pair in the win.

Orient roll past RCGT Knights

It was difficult to celebrate much of anything for the RCGT Knights in their double header with the Orient on Monday night. After giving up four quick goals and dropping the opening game 5-2, the second contest began with similar vibes. The Orient found their gear and easily rolled past their opponent ending the match earlier than expected. M.David played a major factor sparking back to back goals before adding two more to put this one out of reach. The Orient was led by all facets of their game. Both teams seemed to measure up when the night started but that only lasted so long. Apart-from his four goal explosion in the second match, M.David had scored twice earlier on looking like a one man wrecking crew. Overall, just a night to forget for S.Sauk and the RCGT Knights as they’ll need to focus on what’s ahead of them.

Degenerates happy to get points in inter-league play

The Bad Guys inc showed their depth and balance early on, and the Degenerates suffered a bad start which ultimately doomed them, at least in the first game. Its never easy playing catch up against a side that traps you well when leading, and that are razor sharp on their defensive detail. The Degenerates attempted to bounce back but couldn’t get their timely goals in order to have a shot at stealing the opening contest. With that out of the way, the opportunity to adjust and get it right was still on the table for the Degenerates. And even though they gave up the first goal, the next four belonged to them with S.Marricco heavily involved setting up one while adding two straight. The three goal margin may have seemed comfortable, but you can never get to complacent against a team that can easily turn it up. The Bad Guys inc nearly brought this game into a shootout after battling back on two straight tallies.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Sandro Marricco of the Degenerates. His ability to battle hard in front of the opposing net caused plenty of fits to the Bad Guys inc defense. The Degenerates were glad to split with a team-from the higher division thanks to S.Marricco providing a total of three goals and an assist.
