M.Blais completes a significant late comeback for the 1 Timer

The 1 Timer entered tonight’s games in hopes of grabbing at least one win in order to secure a second place finish for a first round bye. They hoped to have taken care of business right away but a couple of very late goals by F.Casacalenda and A.Heinen forced them to try harder in the second encounter. The Classics remained in control taking the opening frame 3-2 before Y.Derohannessian riffled an early second period power play marker for a two goal cushion. Still, the 1 Timer didn’t throw in the towel just yet as they continued to build on every shift while imposing their will with enough time left over. S.Koch eventually pulled his club within one, and M.Carpentier managed to even the score leaving this contest up for grabs. It took only three minutes after that for M.Blais to break the tie and give the 1 Timer their first lead of the night. The Classics attempted to level by removing their goaltender for the extra attacker and nearly forced the extra time if not for F.Koch shutting the door. In the end, they attained their goal by avoiding a difficult first round quarter final match up.

Degenerates put forth strong regular season finish

The Degenerates were taking a cautious approach to their regular season finale, by playing loose and confident knowing they didn’t really have anything to play for but pride. And because of it, they put forth a stellar effort behind some strong performances-from every area of their line up. The defence contributed offensively, S.Marricco had his usual finding the back of the net on several occasions along with S.Morante controlling his net allowing only three goals in two games. The RCGT Knights kept it close in the beginning but found themselves unable to keep up with their man resulting in many odd man plays. The open space was there for the taking and the Degenerates made sure to capitalise enough times to put the games out of reach.

HC Jokerit will build off two very close losses to higher division Bad Guys inc

They may not have gotten the right results, but the HC Jokerit will use tonight’s end to their season as a positive entering next weeks playoffs. Both their games were decided by only one goal-from a team that’s in a higher category. There was no doubt they matched up pretty well against them and the effort was clearly there. The Bad Guys inc squeezed out their first win thanks to G.Amorosa’s second period tally, and took the second encounter by building a 4-1 lead that almost slipped away. P.Jacques banked the winner after three other teammates did the scoring for the Bad Guys inc. Prior to tonight’s games, the Bad Guys inc trailed the Orient in the standings by only three points and will now leap frog into second place to cap off the season.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Sandro Marricco of the Degenerates. The goal scoring machine added five more tallies to help lead his club to another pair of wins.

The regular season for Divisions 1 & 2 came to an end on Monday  night. The Punishers will head straight to the final for finishing first in Division 1 while the Bad Guys inc will take on the Orient in the semi finals. Look for your typical sound playoff game between these two clubs. Both are solid and structured with some fire power up front. As in most cases when two really good teams go at it, goaltending will be the determining factor. G.Barkley and T.Chouinard are as good as it gets.

(3) Hart Foundation vs RCGT Knights(6) S.Sauk knows he has to be good for the RCGT Knights in order to have a chance. If the net minder rises to the occasion, and the team buys into playing for one another, the Hart Foundation will need to work for every inch if they plan on moving ahead.

(4)HC Jokerit vs The Classics(5) Here you have a case of many years of experience going up against a younger squad. It will really be up to the HC Jokerit to implement certain aspects to their game. Since they have the speed and resilience as an advantage, other variables will be key such as defensive awareness, discipline, and perhaps the most important being confident as a group.
