D.Verta nets back to back hat trick, Brewers move on

D.Verta produced not one but two masterful performances to knock out the RCGT Knights and fire the Brewers straight to the semi finals. The Brewers, who toyed with their opponent in the first period was able to hang on to a close 5-3 win thanks to D.Verta’s first of two hat tricks on the night. The RCGT didn’t seem to get the message on how to adjust with their season on the line. It took only four minutes for the very same D.Verta to strike twice and put an immediate strangle hold on the series. Playing with that kind of a lead early on after winning an important game only fuels you to play better and harder, especially an experienced team like the Brewers. It didn’t come easy however as the RCGT Knights pulled themselves within one on two occasions but weren’t able to even the score. With time winding down, A.Papazian put the final nail in the coffin for the Brewers, who are looking pretty good as of late.

Family out paced as the series evolved

After being shutout and dropping their opener vs the Family, the Dragons needed their top players to set the pace and get them back into the series. In games two and three, they did just that and now look more dangerous than ever. They managed to break through the Family’s man on man game by winning more battles that led to grade a scoring chances. Four different players chipped in fairly early for a comfortable 4-1 lead. Despite plenty of time left over, the Family didn’t have the pace to match and battle from-behind for a miracle comeback. Instead, they focused on putting forth one twelve minute battle in hopes of winning it in a mini game. Unfortunately, similar to their previous match, the Family fell behind early, and the Dragons smelled blood-from that point on. Y.Gazura potted two quick tallies, both with the help of G.DeMarinis, who had a solid outing collecting five points.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Danny Verta of the Brewers. Unstoppable, the crafty forward was a mega force collecting back to back hat tricks.

The Masters 35+ division is now down to its final four teams. The match ups are as follows:

(1)Fatal Demons vs Brewers(4) This series isn’t for the faint of heart. Two grumpy teams will be battling all night, and the testosterone levels will hit record highs. There really is only one key component if either side plans on moving on, and that component is to remain disciplined. But try telling that to adult men who sometimes behave like five year olds.

(2)Pylons vs Dragons(3) Both sides know each others strengths, and will need to know how to deal with them. The will to battle hard and play a smarter game will come a long way for the two teams. Vegas has this one at 50/50.
