Team Blue getting hot at the right time in rout of division leaders

There are words that can describe utter humiliation Team White faced in losing against Team Blue. But an old fashion beat down will do. Apart-from giving up an early goal, Team Blue dominated-from the opening face off, putting their opponent in their place. E.Colella keeps getting his way riffling a pair early on as did M.Scarpetta that helped built a 4-1 lead in only 15 minutes. The offense was concentrated in a few players that put up some nice numbers in this win. E.Colella finished with four goals and five assists, M.Scarpetta completed a hat trick, E.Allen and L.Bucci hit their targets twice while M.Valmora took care of controlling the play resulting in six helpers. Team White couldn’t execute the way they are used to, and really need to put this one behind them with the playoffs starting in two weeks for them.  Whether you lose a game 2-1 or they way thy did tonight, it shouldn’t matter to them as they’ll regroup and play with more urgency when it matters more.

The SalumiVino player of the game goes to Eddy Colella of Team Blue. Whether Teams haven’t gotten the memo on how to address him or because they just cant stop him, Colella continues to tear it up accumulating nine more points.

Team Green waste comeback, fall to Team Yellow

It may have come as a disappointing finish, but Team Green will take some positives after coming back-from a three goal deficit. Maybe a better start would have influenced the final result. Regardless, Team Yellow started off strong and finished even stronger after going through a rough patch in only three minutes where they gave up three straight goals. To their credit, Team Yellow remained level headed and kept their composure moving forward. G.Charron was their to bail his club out snapping the 4-4 tie, which shifted the momentum of this game in their favour. M.Paciencia scored his second shortly after while setting up his clubs next goal to ease the tension with not much time left to go. Unlike the strengths of some other teams that rely on some high end talent, Team Yellow has different identity. This isn’t a club that will look to one particular player to bail them out. Most of their success comes-from playing well as a unit due to their structure and team chemistry. Maybe a silent team to watch for in the playoffs.

The SalumiVino player of the game goes to B.Mourad of Team Yellow. No matter what the circumstance during the game, the net minder was their to help bail out Team Yellow by making timely saves on 35 shots.

R.Potenza decides matters on late penalty shot, Team Black edge out Team Red

No matter what your regular season record looks like, its how you finish prior to the playoffs that often matter. Even though Team Red dropped another one goal game, this result will boost confidence knowing they came that close to winning without some players throughout their line up. They managed to lead 2-0 at one point thanks to C.Arnoldo and T.Settino providing much of the offense. Unable to ride that surge, Team Black eventually flipped the script netting the games next three markers. The contest did remain very close-from that point on ,but with Team Black carrying the slight advantage every time by playing in front. Ultimately, it came down to an unfortunate circumstance when Team Red took a late penalty that set the stage for a penalty shot for Team Black. Already with two goals and an assist, it was only fitting that R.Potenza was there to bury the winner with little time left over. Both sides will be satisfied after this hard fought battle as both clubs will face one another in next weeks first round match up.

The SalumiVino player of the game goes to Rocco Potenza of Team Black. Its always nice when a player scores three goals and an assist that includes a penalty shot winner late in the game.

Tonight concluded the regular season for the Sunday night Draft league. All six teams will be participating in the playoffs with the first two seeds skipping the first round for a direct pass to the semi finals. The first round match ups are as follows:

(3)Team Black vs Team Red(6) Since the two sides just finished playing each other in what was a tightly knitted affair, expect much of the same in next weeks battle. Team Red’s horrible record of only two wins isn’t a real reflection of their identify. You always have a chance when you have the scoring leader in C.Arnoldo and a high end talent in T.Settino. The problem lies on their game without the ball. Team Black will have to exploit that weakness while making sure they play sound defensively.

(4)Team Green vs Team Blue(5) It will be up to Team Green to formulate a specific game plan. Without mentioning any names on who the dangers are, P.Santullo will have to address his club on how to slow down Team Blue’s threats. If Team Green can get the goaltending and a strong defensive game, than they can pass, if not, look for Team Blue to prevail.
