(4)Hellenic Republic vs Expos(1)
The summer season has finally hit. Tuesday kicked off the season opener between the Hellenic Republic and the Expos in game that saw Pantelis Palioudakis and the Republic start their night the right way. A 3-0 third period lead was built and W.Tang was headed for a shutout until E.Bakopanos spoiled it on the power play with just over two minutes remaining. With four different goal scorers striking, the Hellenic Republic got balanced offence that included the game winning goal in the first period courtesy of M.Harper.
(5)Smooth Sailors vs Smackdaddys(2)
The Smooth Sailors scored four third period unanswered goals, and G.Follano made 25 saves to lead his club passed the Smackdaddys on Tuesday night. The barrage of goals came as of the two minute mark of the final frame where J.Velenosi evened the score at two goals a piece. Marco Diaco immediately put the Smooth Sailors up shortly after and S.Liparota along with J.Palmitano closed off the night adding insurance markers. The Smackdaddys got both their tallies from M.Chenier and N.Gilbert as the only two players to solve G.Follano. The Smooth Sailors look to be stacked up with talent and depth and have already shown that they expect nothing less than a perfect season.
(5)Spartans vs Rhum & Coke(2)
Maybe it was a question of being new to the division but the Rhum & Coke settled things after falling behind 3-0 in the first period. The Spartans did their homework early enough and kept the game in check en route to a 5-2 win. P.Karvouriaris had a multi goal game, J.Mandracchia notched the winner late in the first period and C.Stavriadis allowed only two goals in the span of two minutes. Despite the loss, the Rhum & Coke can take plenty of positives after dropping their season opener versus an established opponent.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Willy Tang of the Hellenic Republic. The net minder was two and a half minutes away from recording a shutout in a 4-1 win over the Expos.
