(0)Underdogs vs Tropics (4)
Tropics blank Underdogs, 4-0, in season debut
Goaltender A.Boulis made 16 saves, and three Tropics scored including a two goal game by S.Wilcox. The Tropics won every frame striking at least once in every period. Unable to get much offense going, the Underdogs had two four minute power play minutes that went dry. P.Scuccimarri and M.Ventura also scored for the Tropics who don’t seem to have missed a beat after winning last summer’s E division championship. It may have come as a loss but Joseph Constantin isn’t too concerned knowing that there is still some rust to shake off before entering a groove.
(5)Park Avenue vs Punishers(7)
Captain John Fidrilis sparks two goals, Punishers hang on to 7-5 win
The captain led the way striking first as part of a 6-1 two period lead for the Punishers. Whether or not the Punishers let go, the Park Avenue woke up late only to fall short. J.Rochon mounted the comeback bagging three goals and an assist on D.DiGiantonnio’s late tally. The Punishers cramped most of their offence by the second part of period number two with four tallies. N.Pitsikoulis had a multi goal game in the win. M.Russo didn’t have a strong finish but may have been the difference maker for two periods allowing only one goal on 12 shots. One thing’s for sure, is that the Punishers will be putting up goals on a regular basis.
(2)Faceless vs United Arms(3)
Late tally propels Arms past Faceless
The goal was deflating. No doubt about it. With the game tied at two goals, D.Charbonneau struck at the right time giving the United Arms the slight edge. Faceless looked at the clock at that point that had less than four minutes remaining, and despite making a push, it just wasn’t meant to be. The United Arms used a solid team effort with other goals from N.Macrozonaris and G.Jerjian. K.Haroutounian was solid in net pushing 26 of 28 shots. In a game that could have gone either way, the United Arms will grab the points while Faceless know that they can jump start their season in their next encounter.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Steven Wilcox of the Tropics. His two goals and one assist was a big part of the offence in a 4-0 rout of the Underdogs.
