N.Fragos earns early shutout, G.Santacroce cracks barrier with two goals

The Young Gunz began their young season with a perfect start. N.Fragos was flawless in the opening game earning an eleven save shutout and G.DeLuca along with N.Fragos each scored to beat C.Stavriadis. For a first game of the season, the Young Gunz got it right from playing solid defense, getting timely goals and the expected goaltending from their leader between the pipes. Although the outcome was positive, the question remained if they can duplicate their efforts for the second confrontation. S.Sicuso , unhappy with his clubs poor display made sure to adjust for the second encounter. The veteran d-man played the entire match and made sure to get the maximum effort from all of his troops. With the help of P.Strobakis and S.Sicuso, the Last Minute benefited when A-J Belcher and G.Santacroce scored to finally get some scoring done. Santacroce had two big goals giving two goal leads twice. The Young Gunz fell behind in this match but showed plenty of resilience to narrow the gap within one, but couldn’t even the score. C.Stavriadis bounced back to earn the win in net.

Two for Two, 1 Timer set the tone for another dominant season

The 1 Timer once again served up a magical night of action by collecting two wins over the Jokers. The orange shirts got off to a tremendous start, after bullying and pressing the opposition throughout the entire court. With three different goal scorers in both matches, the 1 Timer have the luxury of balanced offence. J-G Perreault led the way earning four points that included three helpers. In both games, the 1 Timer wasted no time getting on the board that saw five out of their six goals in the opening frames. The power play worked just as well as their shorthanded unit. The Jokers have some fire power with names such as A.Dayan, M.Gagnon and M.Baccari but weren’t able to do much against F.Koch. The solid net minder allowed only one goal in two games and faced a total of 31 shots to collect back to back wins for his club.

J-P Boucher rock solid goaltending gives Les Carmonis points to the standings

In facing 35 shots in two games, J-P Boucher felt like a target at a shooting range. The talented net minder gave every possible opportunity for the Carmonis to get on the right start to the season. With the help of his captain J.Poirier’s buzzer beating goal, the Jokers gave themselves a chance to take the match in a shootout. J-P Boucher made that one extra save over his counterpart P.Assadi to take the opening contest in the breakaway competition. Unhappy with the result, Team X had the opportunity to return the favor in the second contest. But it was the Carmonis striking first courtesy of C.Desmarais. That goal forced Team X to take some chances where they eventually benefited. A.Jalilvand used a high rising blistering slap shot to solve Boucher. Then, D.Galloro had to tip a rebound after a shot from A.Jalilvand to take the lead. Les Carmonis didn’t go down that easy as they fought back to even the score when A.Ducharme found a way to sneak one by P.Assadi. At that point, the next goal was going to surely decide the outcome. On an innocent wrist shot from centre, R.Jorquera stunned both benches and especially the Carmonis net minder who wished he had that one back. That goal left just over a minute in the game where Team X killed off the clock to capture the win. A.Jalilvand collected five points for Team X to lead all teammates. As for the Carmonis, J.Poirier and A.Ducharme each scored twice but the story of the night was the solid goaltending display by J-P Boucher who did more than his share to help capture some points to the standings.
