(2)Devil Dawgz vs HBHA Seniors(1)
Defending champs finally fall after five games
A 2-1 loss to the Devil Dawgz Friday night ended a five-game winning streak, but won’t make much of a difference in the standings for the HBHA Seniors. The Devil Dawgz took advantage of a depleted line up bombarding C.Stavriadis with 37 shots only to score twice. B.Pereira and M.Falato each scored for a 2-0 lead and the HBHA Seniors couldn’t get much of anything going up until a late second period marker by P.Savino. Despite narrowing the gap, the Devil Dawgz held on to the ball most of the time not allowing any sort of dangerous chances. S.Sauk faced 26 shots to earn the win in net, and hand the HBHA Seniors their first and potentially only loss of the season.
(5)Hawks vs Stones(6)
Stones celebrate first win in 6-5 thriller
Aside-from a slow first period, the Stones really turned it up against their rival Hawks. With an opportunity to put the game out of reach, T.Settino rescued his club by netting a game changing shorthanded marker. That tally cut the lead in half which was just the beginning of so many more to come. E.Dedominicis helped shift the game with two second period goals. There was no doubt that the Stones really wanted to get their first win of the season and did it by simply out working and out battling a complacent side. T.Settino finally got some help in the goal scoring department but still led all players with four points. The win couldn’t have come without the brilliant performance put forth by O.Caillet, who was rock solid despite giving up five goals.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Tony Settino of the Stones. His shorthanded breakaway goal along with three other points was a major factor why his club captured their first win of the season.
