(1)Mohicans vs Street Ballers(2) E2 playoffs, round 1

Y.Dube and the Street Ballers celebrate late to advance

Y.Dube scored a late winner as the Street Ballers reached the semi final round with a nervy 2-1 win over the Mohicans. Neither side wanted to take many chances in this contest. The goals were scarce but the defense and goaltending were up to par. S.Sauk was primed in this one allowing only one goal against a fierce offence. The Street Ballers however played it to their strengths by leaning on a younger team and by simply removing plenty of time and space. Once the opportunity arose, it was only fitting that an established goal scorer was going to get it done. Y.Dube came through at the right moment as he’s often done in the past by providing the game clinching goal. With this win, the Street Ballers will take on the first place UHC in a best of three series. The other semi final round will feature the French Connection versus the Underdogs.

(5)Werewolves vs SBS Trashers(0) E1

P.Turturici provides peace for Werewolves with flawless performance

The Werewolves ended their regular season on a high note with a convincing 5-0 win over the SBS Trashers on Thursday night. D.Traversy opened and closed the scoring to register one of many hat tricks in his ball hockey career. The offense was limited to only two players as M-A Distasio netted the other two goals only seconds apart. The SBS Trashers hung in there for at least half the match but weren’t able to keep up as time went on. With the score 3-0 after two periods, D.Travery put things to rest with two straight goals. P.Turturici was finally in a better mood and kept the dressing room quiet by posting a shutout. This came as a good vote of confidence for a side that’s suffered some heart breaking losses this season. As for the SBS Trashers, the expectations were higher than this with only one win in ten games. For now, they’ll have to try and put this season behind them and look to refocus knowing that they are a better club than what their record shows.

(10)Bramabulls vs P.E.Y.O(7) E1

Bitter win gives some indigestion to Bramabulls

It’s always nice to escape a hockey game with a win, but the Bramabulls weren’t too pleased considering the circumstances versus the P.E.Y.O. This result came without some prolific goal scorers by the P.E.Y.O. And despite the missing big guns, one sniper caused havoc all game long. J.Courteau went on a goal scoring frenzy providing five goals and a helper to help erase part of a six goal deficit. Luckily enough, the Bramabulls led convincingly 8-2 which gave just enough of a gap to run away with the match. The P.E.Y.O kept fighting back, especially in the third where they pulled within two. By then, time was winding down and the Bramabulls found a way to put the game to rest. It’s not often he scores but P.Rivera provided a couple of bullets that found their way-from the point. His teammates needed to remind him not to get used to such habits and take it as an anomaly. The d-man will get back to focusing on his defensive game where he excels by stopping the big guns in front of the net. Entering the night, both sides knew that they were playing each other in next week’s semi final. This was just a match to study each other’s habits and tendencies.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Scott Sauk of the Street Ballers. The Street Ballers needed their goaltender to stand tall and he did just that with an incredible performance in a close 2-1 win over the Mohicans.

The E1 Thursday division came to an end. Four teams will be battling it out in a best of three semi final. The match ups are as follows.

(1)Deadlast vs Werewolves(4) It’s a battle of experience versus young talent. The Werewolves have the miles and the mind set, but will it be enough to slow down players like C.Chirola, N.Gikas and company? P.Turturici will need to stand on his head in order for the Werewolves to have a chance.

(2)Bramabulls vs P.E.Y.O(3) Both sides just finished playing each other. If the Bramabulls can’t tighten up better, than they are cooked. P.E.Y.O have too many threats up front which will only force the Bramabulls defensive game to improve drastically.
