Defending Champs start strong
The recent champs started their regular season play in style on Monday, jumping off to a pair of convincing wins. The Punishers were in fine form-from the beginning providing a 3-0 lead that saw all three goals go in a two minute span. A.Centis opened and closed the scoring for the Punishers while F.Russo faced 14 shots to collect an early season shutout. In hopes of bouncing back by the second contest, Les Carmoni de Fabreville went through a similar fate allowing three first period goals. The Punishers went on about their business getting scoring efforts-from three different players to dictate the match. Still, after three straight periods, F.Russo has yet to concede a goal but that changed when J.Poirier finally got to the net miner by the mid way point of the second period. A.Dayan made an immediate impact by accumulating five points in two games and will be heavily relied on with the loss of last season’s top scorer.

Stones use late high-lite reel goal, Team X responds to even the score
What looked like was surely headed for a shootout changed when C.Fragiudakis and T.Bergomi combined for a beautiful play. Both players went on a two on two rush that had Fragiudakis provide a perfect feed for a tap in goal for the power forward. Unhappy with the way things ended, Team X fell in a deep hole early in the second game. But after responding with a pair of tallies before the end of the frame, Team X continued their onslaught adding three straight tallies for a 5-2 lead. D.Galloro and A.Lanni each scored twice while A.Zarzour scored the other with a hard slap shot. The Stones didn’t decide to call it quits just yet as they pulled their net minder with just over four minutes left in the game. That move nearly worked as two goals went in that left still about a minute for the equalizer. And despite having the chance to tie it, the Stones just fell short as time eventually ran out. Both sides played a chess match styled game that forced players to find their own space and take shots-from the outside. The only thing lacking from-either side may be their lack of overall speed but the rest is there for the two veteran clubs.
