(4)Punishers vs Tropics(7)
Tropics use power packed offense to get better of recent champs
One thing’s for sure is that the Tropics will be tearing it up in the goal scoring department. If it’s not one player than it’s another as tonight A.Deluca took the torch riffling four goals. This contest was only decided by the third period where the Tropics snapped a 4-4 tie thanks to a goal by C.D’Onofrio. Unable to get that equalizer, the Punishers gave up two empty net goals that suggested this game was way closer than what the score indicates. One of A.Deluca’s goals came shorthanded that evened the score in the first period while C.Gagnon did the same for the Punishers to level the game at four goals a piece by the third period.
(1)Trappers vs Smackdaddys(2)
J.Bolanakis snaps third period tie as Smackdaddys edge Trappers
J.Bolanakis, who also assisted on F.Laurin’s first period goal, was able to win the match for the Smackdaddys by providing the go ahead marker in the third. That was just enough to get the Smackdaddys in the win column after dropping last week’s contest with Venom. It was a game where both net minders were very good in between the pipes. After facing about 25 shots each, Y.Hassani got the slight edge over his counterpart J.Richer, who will be a significant piece to the puzzle for the Trappers. This result gives the Trappers a second straight loss, who are defending well but not getting enough scoring punch up front with only one goal so far this season.
(5)Venom vs Fat Roy(6) S.O
Fat Roy third period push results in big shootout win
Fat Roy may have concerned themselves on how they will fair in the division, but after a late third period push, things may start to look positive for C.Zafiropoulos and the rest of his team. Fat Roy just kept working and working up until three goals in only 90 seconds put them in the driver’s seat. That was the first time Venom trailed during the match, and despite falling behind, N.Gilbert responded in a big way for his second of the game that eventually forced the extra time. Once in overtime, neither side was able to get it done that forced the net minders to work extra hard in the shootouts. At that point, only one player excelled in the breakaways. E.Lohaitis tallied for Fat Roy while F.Vigliotti was brilliant denying all three attempts his way. The win came with the help of five different goal scorers for Fat Roy, who will look to feed of this result in their next battle with the Smackdaddys.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Yassine Hassani of the Smackdaddys. The net minder excelled on this night stopping 22 of 23 shots his way enabling the Smackdaddys to collect their first win of the season.
