It’s never over till it’s over

Outplayed completely in the first period, the Stones rallied for an improbable 4-4 draw with les Carmoni de Fabreville. What made the result hard to digest was the fact that K.Araujo beat the buzzer by only five seconds. And he wasn’t done just yet as the corner stone defenseman buried the Stones lone shootout goal that ultimately gave each side a point. Unhappy with the way things ended for Les Carmoni de Fabreville, the second contest had a very similar storyline. But this time the roles were reversed with Les Carmoni De Fabreville returning the favor in almost an identical fashion. The game was winding down with the Stones up 4-3 only to see V.Parise strike with ten seconds left to go. The sniper bagged his second to help send the game in a shootout where Les Carmoni de Fabreville prevailed posting two shootout markers. J.Poirier and L-C Desmarais each got the better of O.Caillet while G.Delisle denied both shooters-from the Stones. In the end, both sides were pleased with the results with the games being so close.

1 Timer plays with urgency early on, Punishers settle the score in second encounter

The 1 Timer haven’t been too pleased with the way they have fared with the Punishers and is why they made it a point to start the night with a bang. After the opening frame, the men in orange fought hard to build a 3-1 lead and made sure to protect it the rest of the way. B.Gandolfo and his defense in front of him kept frustrating the Punishers and in result led to a positive 4-1 victory. A.Gagnon opened and closed the scoring while K.Lavoie and P-A Surprenant buried the other tallies for the 1 Timer. Now that they got that monkey off their back, the question became can they do it for a second straight game. Unfortunately that good sequence only lasted so long as the Punishers made sure not to repeat a second straight downfall. This time they came out stronger and were by far the better side igniting three goals in only seven minutes. A.Centis set the tone striking twice before completing his hat trick by the second period. The 1 Timer had only one bright moment in this contest that came early in the second period when T.Daigneault solved F.Russo for a rare time. These results gave some satisfaction for both sides. The first being that the 1 Timer was able to defeat a team like the Punishers and the second being that the Punishers bounced back with authority to finish the night on a good note.

Sense of urgency kicks in for Firebreathers, Team X looked like they forgot how to play hockey

While the Firebreathers did everything right-from their goaltending and up, the same couldn’t be said for Team X who looked completely lost at times. The Firebreathers defended incredibly well and made sure to pounce on their chances once they were created. B.Barile and D.Gagnon each scored twice and S.Morante was nearly perfect allowing only one goal on 17 shots. In hopes of putting the opening contest behind them things weren’t any better by the second game. Yes Team X did play with the lead this time but it barely held up. Once the second period hit, the Firebreathers over took the game posting five out of the six goals that went in. And it wasn’t one player in particular making the difference as everyone pulled their weight to earn a well deserved win. G.Cardillo was the only player to score twice, and for a second straight game, S.Morante made crucial saves enabling his side to a pair of wins. Due to these results, the standings just became that much more complicated. The Firebreathers put themselves back in the race with the chance of catching two teams in front of them, Team X and the 1 Timer for that last playoff spot.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Sandro Morante of the Firebreathers. At times, the goaltender repeatedly kept frustrating Team X making one brilliant save after the other earning two very important wins for his club.
