Chiefs take out the trash in season opener

It was just one of those nights that everything went right for one team and everything wrong for the other. The Chiefs couldn't have played a better game starting with their brilliant goaltending in S.Pare stretching out to their smart defensive game along with the forwards capitalizing when the opportunities were given. P.Santullo wasted no time collecting a ton of points as the forward participated in all five goals that included a pair of tallies. S.Koulieris scored twice as well while P.Roy for a rare time was able to find the back of the net with a blistering slap shot-from the point. The SBS Trashers struggled to score but did generate some crazy chances only to hit a brick wall. S.Pare faced 30 shots allowing only one goal that came off a base ball swing-from Joseph Scalia. That was the best the SBS Trashers centre men did on this night since he had to deal with a pair of annoying centre's checking him all game long.

(6)Carnage vs Mighty Drunks(7)

Mighty Drunks sober up in later stages of game for comeback victory

What looked like the effect of a hangover for half the game, the Mighty Drunks got their act together down the line to steal the match-from Carnage. For whatever reason, Carnage was able to score all their six goals just shy of the mid way point of the game only to hit a dry spell the rest of the way .But it's one thing not to produce and another to give up a pack of tallies. Either Carnage just fell apart or the Mighty Drunks changed something in their game that shifted this contest in the opposite direction. In the end, the Mighty Drunks had the final say with a complete take over by the final frame. K.Otis helped mount the comeback with his second of the night followed with G.Khaznadjian`s equalizer and P.Chartier`s go ahead marker. After a shaky start to the night, S.Sauk shook off some rust denying every shot for half the match.

(5)Ottarks vs Bramabulls(2)

Basic hockey gears Ottarks past Bulls

When looking at the rosters of both teams, it's nearly impossible to figure out the outcome as both sides appear to be evenly matched. But the Ottarks didn't make it seem that way as they out smarted the Bramabulls on this particular night .By keeping it simple, all the elements were in motion for the Ottarks. The Bramabulls played an aggressive game by pushing the pace but kept getting in trouble every time as the Ottarks patiently waited for their chances. L.Dulcetta and R.Zarriello each scored twice while D.Guarnieri buried the other. With goaltending also being so important in these types of games, S.Morante was sharper than his counterpart making the necessary stops to earn the win.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Pat Santullo of the Chiefs. Not bad for a player with two left feet as his five points was vital for a 5-1 win over the SBS Trashers.
