(4)Faceless vs United Arms(5)
United Arms salvage night after blowing two leads
Despite giving up a pair of leads, the United Arms managed to shrug off the adversity. The games pivotal moment occurred fairly late in the game when G.Jerjian regained control for the United Arms. The lanky forward did more than just crack the barrier by scoring three times while setting up H.Jerjian. To his help, Y.Derohannessian was just as key for the result. The slick forward used his calm hands to set up all five tallies. Faceless were caught off guard early on forced to battle back all night long. Unable to get that go ahead marker, Faceless will remain in fifth place setting up a first round match up versus Park Avenue or the very same United Arms.
(0)Underdogs vs Tropics(3)
Shorthanded goals propel Tropics over Underdogs
It’s not to suggest that the Underdogs would have escaped with the win, but giving up two shorthanded goals in a close 3-0 loss leaves room for some doubt. The Tropics made the score 2-0 on the Underdogs power play with goals by V.Crivello and J.Nardolillo. Those were two crucial plays of the game were the Underdogs failed to take advantage of their opportunities. It didn’t help either against a team that’s got only one loss in eleven games. Regardless, the effort was there and the score was close for a team that’s struggled early in the season. Nardolillo went on to add his second for the Tropics third goal and A.Boulieri faced 19 shots to record a shutout.
(4)Punishers vs Park Avenue(3) O.T
Park Avenue drop 4-3 ot decision after climbing back
For nearly three entire periods, the Park Avenue trailed, and despite tying the game very late it was all for nothing. Payam Assadi evened the score for the Park Avenue with only 44 seconds left in the game. That tally came in a shorthanded play, a situation that they hoped to fuel from only to later lose in the sudden death frame. After collecting his fourth point of the night, P.Karvouriaris collected his biggest assist when S.Bentivegna scored early in overtime. That was Bentivegna’s second tally, his first coming on the power play in the third period. With this result, the Punishers will be playing Park Avenue or the United Arms in a best of three semi final match up.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Garo Jerjian of the United Arms. From the drop of the ball, Garo Jerjian was uncontainable, scoring three big goals while collecting an assist in a close 5-4 win over Faceless.
