Thursday December 8(Playoffs, Round 1, 4 vs 5)
(4)Legacy vs Northstars(1)
Back to back slap shots push Legacy through to next round
With so much on the line, neither side wanted to make any sort of mistakes. This contest was your typical low scoring playoff game that saw both sides play it very cautious till the end. But at one point something has to give. Dead locked 1-1, Legacy looked to one of their game breakers to crack the barrier. E.Girouard ripped a cannon fromm near centre that completely fooled M.Croteau, and all of a sudden Legacy was on top. However, this match wasn’t done just yet with the very same Girouard taking a four minute penalty. That call came with about four minutes remaining in the game, more than enough time for a power play goal. Unfortunately, you know it’s not meant to be when a similar goal goes in like the one of E.Girourad. This time, S.Robineault took lessons fromm his most valued linemate by notching an identical tally. What made that even worse for the Northstars was that it came shorthanded. Legacy held on at that point and capped off a hard fought win when their cornerstone d-man T.Bozinakis found the empty cage.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Eric Girouard of Legacy. If timing is everything, than E.Girouard proved it with a blistering slap shot that snapped a late 1-1 tie.
This win advances Legacy to the semi finals where they’ll take on a familiar opponent. The River Rats will be eager and anxious to take on one of their rivals. Although the odds may favor the River Rats for finishing in first place, Legacy will try and prove everyone wrong once more with the amount of recent success. Discipline will surely be a key factor in this series as both sides work an excellent power play.
The other semi final match up will feature the Bramabulls taking on the Left Wings. Theoretically the Bramabulls know what they have to do but it’s easier said than done. Can the Bulls stop J.Adamou, J.Provost-Blais and company? The entire game plan needs to revolve on those two players. If they can be contained than the Bulls will be fine, if not, then the Left Wings will be playing for the C Thursday division title.
