(2)Hawks vs HBHA Seniors(7)

HBHA Seniors hammer Hawks to finish season strong

As long as the HBHA Seniors ran down their opponent, the writing was on the wall. The Hawks found themselves in the penalty box early and paid the price for it when A.Angelis struck to open up the scoring. Unable to get much of anything going, the Hawks only scored twice in the second period with goals by A.Zarzour and A.Moscato. Only four players found the back of the net out of the seven goals by the HBHA Seniors. A.Angelis, J.Kontitsis and T.Koutlis struck twice each while J.Bolonakis got the other. It wasn’t his busiest night, but C.Stavriadis did his part to keep the game in check. The HBHA Seniors look to be in fine form heading into the playoffs. With the kind of experience that they have, there won’t be many teams that can stop them if they play with a full roster.

(3)Stones vs Devil Dawgz(3)

T.Settino’s late tally avoids suicide match for the Stones

Even though this was a regular season game, both sides approached it as a playoff match in order to avoid playing an extra round. With the win, the Stone clinched a semi final spot while the Devil Dawgz will tempt their fate in a do or die match up with the Brewers. This game could have easily gone either way with the score leveled at two goals apiece. But with just over three minutes left to go,who other than your most dangerous player to pull through. T.Settino cracked the barrier and the Stones needed to kill off just three minutes in order to capture the win. Like on most nights, the Devil Dawgz play with a short bench. Despite getting a pair of tallies by their go to guy B.Pereira, the energy and legs just weren’t there. The Stones patiently waited for their opportunity and seized it when the time came.

Now that the regular season is out of the way, five teams have a shot at taking the title. The playoffs begin Tuesday with the four vs five matchup between the Devil Dawgz and the Brewers. That game won’t be easy for either side. The one slight advantage that the Devil Dawgz has is their sniper up front. The Brewers need to be aware of B.Pereira every time he is on and make sure that he doesn’t get his way. If A.Lanni and others follow the strict game plan, than the Brewers have a chance to play Friday night in a best of three series versus the Hawks. The other match up features the Stones and the HBHA Seniors.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Terry Koutlis of the HBHA Seniors. The veteran refuses to show any signs of slowing down. His two goals and two assists helped the HBHA Seniors finish their season in the right direction.

(11)Devil Dawgz vs Brewers(6)

Devil Dawgz and Brewers stare down must win situation

It wasn’t complicated, both sides needed to put their best game together if they planned on playing Friday night in a best of three series. Despite eying a short bench, the Brewers couldn’t formulate the right game plan on how to take advantage of the situation. Instead, it was the Devil Dawgz that had to be contained. With only two change ups, B.Pereira, G.Berberyan and company proved to be too much for G.Platanitis and the Brewers defense. Both players riffled hat tricks, but Pereira did have the most points adding five helpers. The Devil Dawgz won the opening frame 4-2, added two second period unanswered goals before running the score by the third. This win puts the Devil Dawgz through to the semi finals where they’ll take on the Hawks. In their previous encounter, the Devil Dawgz handed the Hawks one of two loses with no spares to change with. If they get their leader L.Hondronicolas to play on Friday, then the division leaders will really have their hands full. The other semi final will feature the HBHA Seniors taking on the Stones. It wasn’t too long ago that the Stones handed the Seniors a close 7-6 loss. The Stones will need to use their defense to their advantage as the HBHA Seniors will look to their many skilled forwards to produce.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Bryan Pereira of the Devil Dawgz. Determined to get the job done, B.Pereira was a force out there producing eight points that included a hat trick.
