P-A Surprenant late goal lifts 1 Timer in first game, Jokers bounce back to grab single point

The Jokers failed to get at least one point when P-A Surprenant buried his second with just over 20 seconds remaining in the opening contest. His hard wrist shot came fromm the slot area also known as his office after receiving feeds by J.Dias and S.Koch. The Jokers got both their goals by A.Lepore including one on the power play. The shots were fairly even just like most of the match which went down to the wire. The second encounter proved to be just as close as the first one. There may have been more goals but the end result wasn’t that much different. Each side traded three first period goals before exchanging one by the second period to force a shootout. Out of their four goals, surprisingly enough P-A Surprenant wasn’t part of it but the power forward was involved one way or another by posting a shootout marker. The Jokers got their lone breakaway tally by D.Caissie which gave both clubs a point apiece. J-F Gagnon was a force bagging a hat trick while the Jokers got their offence by four different players that included three helpers by M.DelGaudio.

Punishers edge out Yables twice in early season clash

It may be very early in the regular season but it’s safe to say that both these clubs will be going the distance. Both sides came off wins versus last season’s finalists which set up a great measuring stick to see who will be that team to beat. For now, the Punishers are labeled as such with so many dangerous pieces to the puzzle. With no weaknesses on defense, the Punishers may have one of the division’s best sniper. C.Gingras opened the night with two goals in a 4-2 win. Les Yables battled hard and kept up with their opponent but paid the price when they visited the penalty box on two occasions. The Punishers will almost certainly make any team pay when they have the extra man with plenty of space. The second match was also very close. However, the end result was the same with the Punishers edging out Les Yables 2-1. A.Centis used a hard shot to get the better of J-F Simard who was solid despite dropping both games. J.Meynard was just as good on the other end of the court and had his work cut out after facing 37 shots in both games. It may not have been the results they wanted but Les Yables know that they can compete with a team like the Punishers. This was just the beginning of more to come for both sides.

No K.Dube, Carnage stuck with lack of scoring

It’s something that is very hard to deal with when a top gun is out of the lineup. Carnage have a good supporting cast but will find it difficult when such a player is missing. That showed in both games against Team X as only two goals went in by the second match. Team X took the opening battle with the help of J.Melo’s three feeds to three different teammates. P.Assadi still had to face 16 shots that resulted in a shutout despite playing shorthanded for a few minutes. It took up until the five minute mark of the second game when Carnage finally got to Assadi. M.St-Laurent used the eyes behind his head to find an open Theo X to get on board. Unfortunately, Team X escaped the frame with three markers which made things very difficult for a Carnage comeback. A.Zarzour riffled a pair while A.Lanni collected three points.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to J-F Gagnon of the 1 Timer. The forward notched a power play goal in game one before bagging a hat trick in the second match to help the 1 Timer collect four out of a possible six points.

M.Trivisonno back stops Venom to consecutive wins

M.Trivisonno made 25 saves in both games and Venom collected their first win after a slow start to the season. Although it was the 23^rd Hour striking first courtesy of R.Ramacieri, the rest of the game belonged to only one side. Venom went scoreless throughout the first period before erupting with four unanswered goals. J.Vinet struck twice and J.DeSua was behind setting up three of the four tallies. That kind of ending carried into the second encounter with J.Parisella wasting no time getting on board. C-P Sleedge did respond shortly after for the 23^rd Hour but Venom was able to regain control late in the frame when J.Vinet put his club up 2-1.With an opportunity to even the score, the 23^rd Hour failed to take advantage of a power play. A.Jalilvand eventually scored to provide a two goal cushion that was never challenged.
