(8)Hit List vs Butchers (4)
S.Trudel strikes Butchers for 7 points
Hit List’s captain S.Trudel racked up a hat trick and four assists for an incredible performance to lead his club to an 8-4 rout of the Butchers on Sunday night. Each side traded two first period goals each before the Hit List pulled away by the second adding three unanswered tallies. D.Corbeil and L.Richard were also heavily involved collecting four points each. The Butchers played well for two periods which won’t cut it on most nights. V.Mormina opened and closed the scoring in the loss as the captain did more than his share to help start the season on the right path.
(5)Fatal Demons vs Shockers(8)
Shockers score 4 power play goals, M.Blackman and T.Salberg collect hat tricks
The Shockers did a lot of things right on this night. The offensive effort was strong, with the Shockers generating a lot of quality chances, the power play running at full efficiency and all players playing well in all zones. But the reality is that the Fatal Demons got a little unlucky. It isn’t to say that they would have escaped with the win but taking a five minute major in the third period of a 3-3 tie doesn’t help your cause. The penalty may have been an accident but that didn’t concern the Shockers who whaled away with three straight power play goals. M.Blackman went on a rampage scoring three third period markers while his teammate T.Salberg also recorded a hat trick by the third. The power play is an element that’s part of the game and the Shockers took full advantage of the situation to get by the veteran side.
(8)Red Nose vs Brew Crew(5)
Red Nose burns Brew Crew early en route to 8-5 win
Red Nose scored four times in the first period and hung on to defeat the Brew Crew in the end. It can be argued that the game was decided in only 90 seconds. C.Gingras,J-P Meunier and N.Delia each scored in that short span to put their club up 4-1 after only one period. Despite the meltdown, the Brew Crew did adjust and get better as the game went on. D.DiGiacomoSr had a solid second period notching two goals for the trailing side but the damage had already been done. G.Delia and M.Latreille will surely be involved when eight goals are scored. Both players combined for six assists that helped C.Gingras complete his hat trick with two empty net goals.
(5)Team Sportek vs Les Immigrants(4) S.O
Two late goals help salvage point for Les Immigrants
Just when you thought the game was in the back this contest witnessed a thrilling ending. Les Immigrants trailed all game and found themselves in a deep hole up until a late rally sent this game to the ultimate distance. The comeback was led by A.Henzi and by his captain H.Garabedian as both players tallied only seconds apart with 30 seconds left in the game. Both players scored two goals each taking care most of the offense. Despite the setback, Team Sportek did grab the win in the end. J.Couture was the only player to score in the shootout that gave his club the extra point. D.Vitale scored twice as part of a three point effort for Team Sportek.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Stephane Trudel of the Hit List. It’s not the first time and it won’t be the last time that the Hit List’s captain steals the show. His seven points helped lead the Hit List to an 8-4 victory over the Butchers.
