Dr Block burn out with only 5 players

Knowing that it was going to be a difficult night, the Dr Block would have definitely taken the split with the Mighty Drunks. As a matter of fact, they nearly had it needing to kill off a mere 48 seconds in the first encounter only to give up two goals that left them in disbelief. The Mighty Drunks felt that they had to take advantage heading into the second meeting, especially with a fresher group of guys. And once they struck twice in only three minutes, both sides knew the end results. M.Melo had a lot more help in the second game that led to a 12 save shutout. Both wins came with an overall team effort that had nobody in particular stand out. As for the Dr Block, M.Beavais was money in everything he touched as the forward notched three goals and a helper in the loss.

Mighty Boyz make a solid case when they are complete

It's rare that the Mighty Boyz show up with a full squad, but when they do, it's only bad news for their opponents. Tonight's two games showed what a threat they can be when all their guys show up and play full force. Neither of the two games were close with the Mighty Boyz winning by at least three goals. The first encounter saw some balanced scoring with five different players finding the back of the net. However, the same couldn't be said for the second match, where M.Testolina separated himself-from everyone else bagging three goals and two helpers. The only good news for the Punishers in this particular case was that they didn't have a full squad to compete with the Mighty Boyz. Teams have come to realise that in order to be successful, all their elements count, especially in the first division.

Tocas adjust in latter part to even the score with 1 Timer

One trip too many to the penalty box doomed the Tocas in the opening game. The 1 Timer smelled blood and made sure to savour the opportunity bagging three out of their four goals with the man advantage. J.Guye-Perrault opened the scoring for the 1 Timer while K.Gagne brought it a step further riffling three straight to secure a 4-1 victory. In almost a similar situation like in the first encounter, the Tocas were able to return the favour. The score was nearly identical ending 4-0. J.Durante scored a hat trick like his opponent did, and the Tocas used two out of their four goals with the special teams. P.Lavoie scored on the power play while setting up Durante for a shorthanded marker. The 1 Timer attempted 14 shots, and couldn't bury any of them past R.Ricaurte, who bounced back to earn a shutout.

Vitamin C outmatched in both games versus Chic Choc

The Vitamin C didn't bring any of their basic elements to compete with a better Chic Choc team on Monday night. They couldn't score in the opening contest, and didn't defend well enough conceding five goals in both games. The Chic Choc came out storming with L-P Beaupre netting his clubs first two goals. M.Ethier matched his teammates production by also bagging a pair while F.Gaudet-Peloquin stopped all 12 shots to collect a shutout. In hopes of bouncing back after a poor display, the Vitamin C did get it right in the second game, at least for one period. They led 2-1 heading into the final frame until falling off a deep cliff. Two and a half minutes was all it took for the Chic Choc to lay down the hammer. They struck four straight times during that span with scoring efforts-from four different players. M.Ethier set up two teammates while adding one to close off the night. For a second straight game, F.Gaudet-Peloquin was rock solid in net enabling his club to collect two convincing wins.

Constant pressure gives edge to Les Reds Over Corporation

By applying immediate pressure along with winning some loose balls, Les Reds grabbed leads in both games end never once gave them up. The Corporation, although tried to battle back, struggled to find enough room, and when they did, P.Turturici was still in the way. The net minder made enough key saves to keep his club in front for most of the night. The first match was a little lopsided with Les Reds getting goals-from for different players resulting in a 4-1 outcome. The second contest was much closer. Les Reds took the win on their third lead when M-A Distasio bagged his second late in the game.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Frederic Gaudet-Peloquin of the Chic Choc. Goaltending is always a key reason for success, and Frederic Gaudet-Peloquin proved it with a stellar performance allowing only two goals in four periods.

Short bench proves to be breaking point for Carmoni as they don't have enough juice to follow The Corporation.

Even when playing on a off night The Corporation proved to be on their game to take an easy 6 points in the standing. While starting game 1 off slow, the team bounced back in the second period by scoring five unanswered goals to take an easy win. D. Ramada a stay at home defenseman was the main contributor scoring two goals. As game 2 started it was no different as The Corporation never took their foot off the gas pedal and continued to hammer the short bench Carmoni had. The sole bright spot Carmoni was M. Gagnon who scored half the goals for his club. He will need help from his teammates if they wish to play at a high level.
