Team Haiti (3) VS Punishers (5)
Late 3rd period surge earns Punishers a much-needed win in a tight playoff race.
During the first two periods of the game both teams went back and forth exchanging a goal apiece in the first two periods. Until the Punishers started to push back with the strength of their bench. A. Dayan scored his second of the night midway thru the third and C. Gingras added an insurance marker. As Team Haiti tried to fight back late in the game, it was too late. C. Gingras scored his second within the last minute to kill all hope.
Fat Cats (4) VS United Armenians (1)
Giancarlo Sangiovanni stops every shot until midway thru the third period.
G. Sangiovanni is no stranger to playing lights out when games really do matter in the standings. With Team Haiti on their heels, the net minder needed to play a near perfect game which he did. The players in front of him also did not disappoint managing to take a early first period lead and build upon it. F. Atkinson was the main contributor for his club beating G. Follano twice. While for the United Armenians the only bright spot was when A. Minassian found the back of the net near the end of the third period.
Team Haiti (4) VS Winter Soldiers (5)
Fatigue showed for Team Haiti who played an hour earlier.
After just playing an hour earlier, fatigue showed in Team Haiti. A great start to the game saw Team Haiti take the lead in the second period, thanks in part to a team effort with three different players scoring the go ahead goals. But the Winter Soldiers could not be counted out of the game as A. Guida and N. Gikas each scored their second goals of the night to tie the game up and send it to overtime. As things were looking better for Team Haiti who got power play opportunity in overtime, N. Gikas demonstrated and showed off his speed by scoring a shorthanded goal in overtime to ensure the win for his club.
Hellfish (5) VS Horsemen (3)
M. Chartrand puts his team on his back late in the game and secures the win for them.
As two evenly matched teams squared off tonight, it was evident that a player from either side would need to step up for their club and carry them to victory. With the game evenly tied up in the second period, M. Chartrand was that player. He scored his first goal to push his team ahead and never looked back, bagging in two more in the third period with less than a minute a part. With less than a minute to go the Horsemen tried cutting the lead down to two goals but it was too late as B. Verducci shut the door the remainder of the way.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Niko Gikas of the Winter Soldiers. The offensive minded player completed his hat trick in overtime, making sure to end the regular season on a good note for his club and a first place finish in the standings.
The F division regular season came to an end on Wednesday night. With Winter Soldiers and Kentucky Blue capturing first and second place respectively, they will be the only two teams to skip the opening round and head off straight to the semi finals. The first round match ups are as follows:
Hellfish (3) VS Golden Knights (6) The Golden Knights will need to step up defensively and play a solid game the entire time with all five guys coming back to help out. S. Sauk will have his hands full all night stopping the many offensive weapons Hellfish has if Golden Knights wish to move on to the next round.
Horsemen (4) VS Les Raymonds (5) With two teams as evenly match as this anyone can take the win. It all depends which players show up and if they can contribute up to their level. It should be an interesting match up to watch.
