Les Yables sharp in season debut

Looking like they belong in the right place, Les Yables are fast, quick and aggressive and it showed in their season debut versus the Punishers. Both games were extremely close but favouring Les Yables in each case. With the help of two power play goals, Les Yables squeezed out a close 3-2 win in the first encounter. The Punishers looked to respond in a big way by carrying a 4-2 lead in the ensuing match. Four minutes was all they had to kill in order to even the score. Unfortunately, they spent most of that time chasing the ball which can only cause a recipe for disaster. L.Verdun was the catalyst behind setting up three teammates for Les Yables that included late feeds on goals-from M-A Gervais and D.Marcotte. T.Charpnetier scored twice early in the match before deciding it in the shootout with the lone marker. J-F Simard stopped three attempts to collect his second win in as many games between the pipes.

Armadillos pull away late to rout Communists twice

For about three straight periods, the Communists were at the very least satisfied with their overall game. It was in the last stretch that the Armadillos showed why they may possibly be the team to beat once again this season. Things opened up quick when M.Pololos snapped an early period tie. Then, only a minute later, J.Bolankis widened the margin and the Communists let the game slip away despite plenty of time left over. G.Bouchard opened and closed the scoring and will continue to be the corner stone piece the Armadillos rely on. In the first encounter, J.Bolanakis kicked started the season posting two straight goals for the Armadillos as part of a 4-2 victory. After facing a total of 30 shots in two games, C.Stavriadis did his thing allowing only three goals.

Pedram Assadi 14 save shutout settles the split for Dragons

The Dragons could not recover from-conceding two third period goals in their 3-2 loss to Les Immigrant. J.Haddad and A.Addante each scored during that span, and R.Ricaurte wasn't going to let it slip away stopping 17 of 19 shots. Following the game, Les Immigrant looked to duplicate their efforts in hopes for a sweep. But with the Dragons uneasy with the way things ended, the script flipped the other way. The Dragons came out of the gate with much more energy than they showed in their loss. They converted twice in the first period and twice in the second thanks to G.DeMarinis's two goals. And while the offense wasn't as issue, the defence and solid goaltending was also in full gear. P.Assadi thwarted all Les Immigrants attempts to earn a shutout.

E.Girouard batters Tocas with seven goals

E.Girouard scored a total of seven goals in two games to lead the LG HC over the Tocas on Monday night. Even though the Tocas knew of his danger when receiving the ball, nobody was able to get there in time to block the shot. Natural goal scorers have the instinct to place themselves at the right spot and at the right time. The LG HC took the opener 5-3 with Girouard riffling all five goals. In hopes of evening the score in the second contest, the Tocas put up a good battle up until the mid way point of the second period. E.Girouard had already scored twice by then and decided to slow things down giving other teammates a chance to do the same. A.Stamiris riffled a steaming wrist shot to double the lead right before P.Icon fed an empty cage securing a second straight win. He didn't score but S.Govas was responsible for making six goals happen.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Eric Girouard of the LG HC. The natural sniper single handily won the first game posting all five goals in a 5-3 win over the Tocas while being credited the winner in the ensuing match where he buried a pair.
