Complete team effort sends Team White off to the final

Team White played with effort and determination, and never really faced much adversity as they had the luxury to play in front all  night. It showed that they came out on a mission striking early on goals by B.Sorice and M.Barbiero. For nearly over 30 minutes, Team White protected their house thanks to a brilliant effort by S.Pistone. Eventually, P.Santullo was there to give his side some light after using a precise wrist shot to beat Pistone on a penalty shot. Perhaps the only moment during the game that would have caused some concern for Team White was when M.Saia had the opportunity on another penalty shot to narrow the gap within one. Luckily enough, S.Pistone was there again to help bail out his club. Team White would hang on to their two goal margin and punch their ticket to the final. The win came on scoring efforts-from five different players, a solid defensive game, and of coarse their net minder making the key saves.

The SalumiVino player of the game goes to Sal Pistone. Look for your net minder to bring you far. S.Pistone has been a rock for his club all season long and continues to roll along collecting another important win.

A.DeSua rescues Team Black in heated battle with Team Yellow

In a hard fought game that went 20 minutes into overtime, Team Black had what was required to go the distance. After a 4-1 lead for Team Yellow, Team Black mounted a comeback led by B.Panarello scoring the second goal, and a momentum swing ensued. That change of events pushed P.Petraccione to score twice that helped tie the game. Team Yellow followed up when T.Scarpelli regained a slight 5-4 lead for his club only for it to get answered right away-from A.DeSua. It came to nobody’s surprise that this action packed game wasn’t over yet with overtime looming just around the corner. As both sides entered their potential last stretch of the season, it was apparent that no one wanted to make any mistakes. The two sides were shooting-from almost anywhere in hopes of getting a garbage goal or for somebody to pick up a rebound. It took nearly 20 minutes before something finally happened. That’s when A.DeSua saw the sea part ways finding himself completely alone to bury the winner. When two teams play an evenly matched game like both these clubs, it all comes down to the one break or a single play to decide matters. In tonight’s case, Team Black made that one extra play in order to advance.

The SalumiVino player of the game goes to Anthony clutch DeSua. They say timing is everything sometimes. The solid d-man couldn’t have scored two bigger goals. After tying the game fairly late, A.DeSua brought it a notch higher bagging the overtime winner.

The Draft Sunday league is now down to only two teams playing for all the marbles. Team White will take on Team Black in what should be an interesting final. This match up will depend on how Team Black approaches an opponent that plays a very smart structured game that has the goaltending. Team Black will need their unit on the court to play cautious without the ball while patiently wait for some of their big guns to generate offense. If they can remain composed, focused and disciplined, they’ll have a chance, if not, look for Team White to win it all.
