Late turn of events costs Orient easy points

It was certainly a tough pill to swallow for the Orient, who must have thought they had the Altius on the ropes for a second straight win. Its not like the Orient didn’t have the control they wanted carrying a 5-3 lead with about five minutes remaining in the game. Maybe it was just a lack of that killer instinct or some defensive lapses. The problem is that you just shouldn’t be letting the game slip away-from you with neither side really dominating each other. Sometimes you can put in a good effort, but you need to be hitting on all cylinders. The Altius played well enough on their heels to steal their second encounter thanks to a pair of identical plays that saw E.Girouard tip in a pair of perfect feeds-from A.Kobayati. This win came right after the Orient took the opening contest due to the Altius net minder showing late. In consequence, they attempted to pull it off by playing without a goalie which led to five empty net markers by the Orient.

D.Sarno nets a beauty, Horsemen take command in second encounter for a pair of wins over the RCGT Knights

It was definitely a good effort by the Horsemen in their back to back wins versus the RCGT Knights. The first game had a few ebbs and flows for both, but was otherwise a low event start until the Horsemen started to put the pressure as the game went on. D.Sarno couldn’t have scored a nicer goal by picking his top corner-from his backhand on a sharp angle. That tally proved to hold up for a close 3-2 decision. The second encounter wasn’t nearly as close with the Horsemen mounting a fast start bagging fours goals in just over six minutes. Playing with that kind of a lead that early didn’t help the RCGT Knights confidence, who struggled to generate much offense. The win came with scoring efforts-from five different players that saw D.Greco duplicate is efforts like in the first game adding three more points. There was no doubt the RCGT Knights could have used a couple of their key guns up front where they lacked in both their losses. Unless you play a well executed game or games, all your elements are required in order to get the results.

Assadi Consulting Inc endure a night to forget

Any opponent having to challenge the Classics will require all their players to be at the top of their game. The Assadi Consulting inc were stuck enduring an awful night of hockey playing without many key components. As a result, they wanted nothing more than to forget what happened and focus on the near future. The Classics on the other hand came ready to play with a near full roster. The offense was spread out in the opening game with P.Karvouriaris and C.Gingras doing their thing sharing four points each. Not much changed in the ensuing match with the Classics continuing-from where they left off giving the Assadi Consulting Inc a real hockey lesson. P.Karvouriaris was able to get his hat trick while S.Morante was firm in net stopping nearly every shot except for one. Although Pedram Assadi wasn’t overly pleased with the way it turned out versus a rival opponent, the captain wont dwell on it too long knowing that its just a pair of meaningless regular season games.

Dragons impose their will after tight affair with Country Club

Even though they didn’t get the results, the Country Club put up a nice fight in their first of two games versus a team-from the higher division. The contest could have easily gone their way if not for some bad luck and solid goaltending by Joe DeStefano. Much of the offense was carried out by two established veteran players. P.Musto used his patented slap shots to beat M.Dupuis twice while B.Daniele bagged the other two tallies for the close 4-3 win. The Country Club didn’t quite have the start they wanted as they quickly fell behind the eight ball giving up five goals in the first period alone. Anytime you build that sort of a lead, the odds are piled against you for a comeback, especially after dropping a heart breaker. There was just no way the Country Club had it in them to climb out of a deep hole. The Dragons have to much experience on how to manage a game and were in total control never having to face  adversity. B.Daniele upped it one better netting a hat trick, J.Scaila  scored twice along with a pair of assists, and Joe DeStefano got the job done allowing only two goals on 18 shots.

Big Timer struggle to adjust dropping two lopsided affairs versus the Degenerates

Maybe some lack of coverage didn’t help the Big Timer on Monday night versus the Degenerates. There were occasional times where enough odd man rushes led to a few goals which only deflates the moral of any opponent. Goals came-from pretty much everywhere including the defense with P.Paikopoulos collecting a hat trick in the opening game. After scoring twice to help solidify an 8-1 win, G.Santacroce wasn’t done yet adding three more tallies to complete a hat trick in the second encounter. The Big Timer did start off strong in the second game when H.Bourgeois tallied first for a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, one really bad sequence saw them allow four goals in only two minutes which clearly set the direction of this encounter. T.Borgia wasn’t too busy, but was their to make the necessary saves to keep his club confident.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Biaggo Daniele of the Dragons. When B.Daniele decides to play at the top of his game, its just a bad situation for any opponent. The Country Club had no answers on how to slow him down. Daniele collected all four points in the 4-3 win, and added three more goals in the second match to help bank six points to the standings for the Dragons.
