Brewers doomed by G.DeMarinis

The Brewers were literally one second away-from testing their luck in a shootout after a wild 4-4 score. That was up until G.DeMarinis caught C.Stavriadis off guard on a desperate blistering slap shot that had no business going in. Gaffes are hard to deal with, but the Brewers had a second chance at returning the favour. They looked better early on in the second encounter grabbing a 5-3 lead after one period on a pair of goals by L.Bavellas and D.Verta. It didn’t seem to matter that the Fatal Demons were outplayed and down for how they eventually responded in the final stretch. And while its attributed to an overall team effort, G.DeMarinis does deserve a bulk of the credit. In the span of only 90 seconds, DeMarinis did something remarkable by scoring one of his fastest hat tricks ever. Those three goals couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Brewers, who appeared to be in control up until that point. In both wins for the Fatal Demons, G.DeMarinis haunted his opponent by notching a buzzer beater while posting a hat trick in the ensuing match that ultimately decided that game as well.

RCGT Knights run out of steam after attempting late comeback in opener

The RCGT Knights fought very hard toward the end of the first game, but couldn’t get their in time to complete a comeback. The Armos felt that it should have never gotten to that point, but that’s what happens sometimes if you get to complacent. K.Duplin scored a pair of key goals along with a helper, and the Armos were glad to bank their first of two games on the night. For the way the second game started ,it looked like the Armos were in for an easy ride building a 2-0 lead. However, that didn’t discourage K.Miraldo and M.Kardum for responding to even the score at two goals a piece. Ultimately, the Armos would overwhelm a side that seemed to be getting more and more tired as the game went on. The Armos finished off a strong first period by riding three goals for a comfortable 5-2 lead. As much as the RCGT Knights tried to battle back, they just didn’t seem to have the energy level to make a game of it. That clearly showed in the final period where the Armos pulled away adding four more tallies. K.Duplin capped off a productive night by adding a hat trick along with four helpers, and B.Panarello couldn’t have scored a more beautiful goal picking a top corner on a shot-from far.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Gino DeMarinis of the Fatal Demons. His teammates have him to thank for collecting two clean wins on Thursday night. After beating the buzzer to decide the first encounter, DeMarinis flipped the script in an instant in the second match by posting three quick goals that turned a deficit into a lead.
