Captain J.Kontitsis leads the way for Armadillos riffling OT winner

As expected , it was a back and forth contest partially dominated by special teams. For how well both sides move the ball, your almost asking for trouble if you visit the penalty box. The Armadillos scored twice during the man advantage with goals by G.Bouchard and the captain J.Kontitsis while the Van Doos Hc got a big power play marker by O.Valiquette to even things up at four goals apiece. The game ended with a pulsating conclusion courtesy of J.Kontitsis scoring fairly late in the overtime frame. It was definitely a great game to watch-from the stands if you like speed, intensity, great saves and a bunch of goals. The teams approached this one like a playoff game as they used each other as measuring sticks knowing that they are legit front runners. Neither team ever led after the full three periods played which only suggested how evenly matched both teams are. Rather than deciding matters in a shootout, J.Kontitsis found a way to end it earlier on a quick release that gave J.Liopoulos not enough time to react.

Fatal Demons pull away in third to defeat struggling Snipers

A third period surge of goals for the Fatal Demons made the difference as a tight 2-1 game ballooned to a 6-2 difference and ultimately was the final score on Thursday night. Both goaltenders were engaged trading many saves to keeping the game very low scoring. There was only so much C.Malkoun could endure for the Snipers. Eventually, the Fatal Demons cracked the code in the final stanza riding four tallies to pull themselves away. M.Destounis scored back to back goals for some breathing room right after the Fatal Demons rode three straight power play goals to jump start their offense. It was evident that the Snipers didn’t play well enough in the third period. Perhaps too many blunders enabled the Fatal Demons to take advantage on a stronger finish that saw their depth outlast the Snipers. P.Delli Colli lived up to the task stopping 27 of 29 shots. Still without a win, the Snipers are looking for a spark so that they can try to get back on track. Unfortunately, they haven’t been able to put together three strong periods in order to get some results. It may not be an ideal start dropping a game to each team in the division, but the Snipers do have the chance to turn things around as they’ll repeat the schedule heading into the final stretch.

Brew Crew breeze past Horsemen

Plain and simple, the Brew Crew beat the Horsemen in all areas of the game. On most loose balls, the Brew Crew were able to get their first and take possession which always translates into good scoring chances. B.Sansotta struck first, A.Belanger along with R.Mancini followed up with second period power play goals, and M.Maggiore scored early in the third period to put a serious strangle hold in the contest. The only thing missing-from that point was for C.Muccino to record a shutout. Unfortunately for the net minder, B.Rubino was able to snatch it away-from him with less then two minutes remaining. The Horsemen finally scored two late goals by pulling out their net minder for the extra attacker. Prior to that point, they didn’t have much offense to show for. C.Muccino faced many shots-from far which made his night fairly easy. There just wasn’t much going-from the get go for the Horsemen, who looked flat and out of sync for a good portion of the game.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to John Kontitsis of the Armadillos. Look for your captain to bail you out . Already with a goal, J.Kontitsis capped off a hard fought win by notching a huge overtime tally.
