Country Club use three quick goals before erupting in second match to down the United Arms

The game was tied after one, and the United Arms seemed to be playing a good game keeping up with the Country Club. Unable to keep it going long enough, the United Arms saw their down fall unwind in only a three minute gap. The Country Club stormed out of the gate early in the second period getting goals-from J-S.Lowe, F.Proulx and M.Dalpe to take command of the situation. There was almost no way that the United Arms were able to climb out of this one sending only a few shots toward M.Dupuis. The mind set was to put it behind them quickly, and focus on their second match using some good habits they had in the first period. Unfortunately, it was all a familiar sight with the Country Club continuing-from where they left off. By the time the four and a half minute mark hit, this contest was far fetched for the United Arms to try and overcome a 4-0 deficit. F.Proulx would add his second before the frame ended, and the Country Club cruised for an easy 7-1 decision.

ETNA bounce back after tight knitted affair with the Assadi Consulting inc

J.Rochon snapped a second period tie, and the Assadi Consulting inc held on for over ten minutes to edge out ETNA in the opening game. Despite having numerous chances to battle back, ETNA was faced trying to figure out P.Assadi, who stood firm in net to squeeze out a nail biter. Much of the second contest was expected to be just as close. And with both sides going scoreless after one, the next goal would prove to be perhaps the turning point. This time however, it belonged to ETNA’s captain M.Stoico as he was able to get to P.Assadi for a rare time. It took only a couple of minutes after that for ETNA to stretch its lead thanks to P.Devault. When good teams jump in front like ETNA did, it makes it harder for the opposition to find that room they need. The Assadi Consulting inc were stuck trying to go through some layers of defensive lanes that limited their scoring chances. Adding to all that, it helps when your net minder delivers between the pipes. M.Rosato had an incredible finish to his night shutting out a very strong team for a 23 save shutout.

Branditscan over power Brodie Boys in both games

If the Brodie Boys had a night in which nothing went right, then the Branditscan had a night in which nothing went wrong. In only three minutes, the opening contest shifted when N.Francis scored early in the second frame followed with two quick tallies by T.Faucher. Out of nowhere, the Branditscan found themselves playing in front for the first time during the game. You would have to figure momentum would carry you the rest of the way after an implosive start. However, that wasn’t the case with the Brodie Boys battling back where they eventually evened things up on a pair of goals by T.Ferreira and S.Bordonaro. With the tides seemingly favouring the Brodie Boys, this contest showed just how unpredictable hockey can be at times with the Branditscan getting the final word. Seventeen seconds was all that was left on the clock when D.Seguin snapped the late tie giving his club the slight edge. The Branditscan enjoyed their short celebration, but knew they had more work ahead of them having to go up against a side that wasn’t pleased on how things ended. To their credit, they showed urgency right away by winning a big opening frame on goals by J.Molloy and T.Faucher. D.Seguin would then widen the gap with a power play marker, and the Brodie Boys knew that their night may go empty handed despite plenty of time left over. They did eventually get on board, but couldn’t manage to make enough ground. Finally, the Branditscan took both games putting together a pair a strong second periods where the out scored the Brodie Boys 8-4.

Classics and Dragons split after putting on a show

This is one rivalry that’s worth the price of admission. If you want high end plays, goals and intensity, the Classics and the Dragons will provide everything your looking for in a hockey game or games. Both sides combined for 23 goals in regulation time with the Classics taking the opener by a slight 6-5 decision while the Dragons were able to return the favour in the shootout on a pair of nifty goals by J.Mandracchia and A.Mirolla. The Classics did grab the first game by winning the second frame 4-3. C.Gingras scored twice, but it was M.Destounis’s tally that just stood up for the winner. As it was to be expected, the two teams kept going at it demonstrating another display of incredible hockey in the ensuing match. Neither side ever led after the two periods which left only a three man shootout to potentially decide matters. You almost had no choice to put good money that J.Mandracchia and A.Mirolla would have found a way to bury their chance. The two players had each scored twice before finishing it off in style on a pair of brilliant finishes. The Classics benefited only once during the breakaways, and who other than C.Gingras to get the better of J.DeStefano. The highly skilled forward scored a goal that only few players have the hands to fake out a net minder. There was no question it was an emotional two games with a ton of quality. One can only wonder how the playoffs will look like if they were to meet. Time will only tell.

RCGT Knights score two late goals to salvage a pair of points vs Diabetoz Angels

The RCGT Knights duck looked cooked, down 4-2 with just under two minutes remaining in the first encounter. But the RCGT Knights were able to show some character and even the score courtesy of J.Prevost and D.Guarnieri responding late. Those late tallies enabled them to take the match in a shootout where J.Prevost and J.Morina got the better of A.Ekonomakis. Losing in such a fashion is a good test of character when playing in back to back games. For the Diabetoz Angels, they were able to prove to themselves that a short memory was the best way to approach it knowing they had another battle with the RCGT Knights. This time, they made their leads count after jumping in front 2-0 with goals by C.Gamperis and J.Fisch. Although D.Guarnieri did cut the lead in half late in the first period for the RCGT Knights, there would be no magical ending as the Diabetoz Angels took over-from there on the back of J.Fisch. The power forward restored a two goal cushion before setting up M.Snachez’s for a late insurance marker. A.Ekonomakis faced his fair share of shots as the net minder delivered making a ton of key saves. If not for a late hic up, the Diabetoz Angels would have handed a very good RCGT Knights two regulation losses.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Massimo Rosato of ETNA. At any moment in time during the second game vs the Assadi Consulting inc, ETNA could have easily found themselves playing-from behind. The only reason it didn’t happen was because M.Rosato was that good stopping everything in sight which enabled his side to finally take a lead and never look back.
