Brew Crew able to protect lead in win versus Fatal Demons

(3)Fatal Demons vs Brew Crew(5)

The Brew Crew couldn’t have asked for a better second period on Thursday night. After being down 1-0, M.Pace set the barrage in motion followed with goals by M.Nardi and A.Belanger. There was no question that the Brew Crew carried the thought of letting this game slip away as they have been unable to protect their leads this season. M.Mavroudis responded for the Fatal Demons with his second to keeping this game close. Both sides knew that the next one was going to indicate where this contest was headed. It took only a minute and change into the third period for A.Belanger to widen the gap once more for the Brew Crew. Carrying a two goal lead with nearly an entire period left over, the Brew Crew made sure to protect their lead by playing to their identity. The Fatal Demons couldn’t generate enough dangerous chances in order to pull themselves within striking distance. M.Pace would eventually add his second late in the game while M.Mavroudis provided all of the scoring for the Fatal Demons posting a hat trick.

Struggling Snipers continue slide in loss to Armadillos

(6)Armadillos vs Snipers(2)

Starting your second half of the season with a loss isn’t great as the Snipers have yet to find success so far. If by chance they were to beat a team like the Armadillos, than everything before that could have been forgotten. Instead, they still have no points to show for, and time is starting to run out. A major problem is that they haven’t had the chance to try and play with a lead. The Snipers aren’t going to overwhelm you in the offensive side, but are able to close out games like anyone else in the division. Tonight, they fell behind the eight ball giving up two first period goals and only got on board late in the second period courtesy of H.Awada and B.Cabral. Despite striking twice, they still trailed by a pair with a whole period ahead of them. It looked like they were getting right on track after a strong finish to the frame. The problem was that the Armadillos weren’t going to let a four goal cushion just slip away. Eventually, S.Simitsakis widened the gap, and P.Musto would close it out with only a few seconds remaining. Overall, the Armadillos did what an experienced structured team does. They started strong and made sure to dictate the terms the rest of the way.

Van Doos Hc powered by G.Tsolis hat trick in overtime

(5)Horsemen vs Van Doos Hc(6) O.T

G.Tsolis’s third goal of the game was the golden goal, lifting the Van Doos Hc to a wild overtime win over the Horsemen. It started off as a back and forth game, and neither team really had the advantage after three full periods. The Horsemen did have a 4-2 lead at one point on the help of two consecutive power play goals by M.Kardum and B.Rubino. There was just to much time left over for the Van Doos Hc to go down without a fight. Slowly but surely, they managed to take over a shift at time until eventually finding themselves up in the third period thanks to N.Kokovidis’s second snapping the 4-4 tie. The Van Doos Hc must have felt at that point that the game was shifting in their direction. After all, they scored three straight goals and appeared to be in complete control of the situation. That being said, the Horsemen never threw in the towel and showed plenty of character . Rather then looking like the team a step behind, the Horsemen were the ones putting on the pressure as they eventually scored on a late tally by T.Zermalias. That goal set the stage for more hockey to come as both sides tempted their luck in overtime. From-there, it looked like nothing was going to get settled with time starting to wind down. Then, an innocent play out of nowhere turned into a high end chance where G.Tsolis was there to bury the winner leaving all but ten seconds on the clock. Entering tonight’s game, the Van Doos Hc had the expectations-from coming out on top for obvious reasons. But with the Horsemen buying into a plan while believing in their capabilities, it just went to prove that anything can happen, even though they dropped a heart breaker.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to George Tsolis of the Van Doos Hc. What’s better than finishing your night with a hat trick in overtime. G.Tsolis without a doubt had a major influence in this game by bagging three goals that included the clincher in the sudden death frame.
