Islanders looking to forget this one after receiving thumping-from Panthers

(11)Panthers vs Islanders(3)

The Islanders know they got taught a lesson, and want nothing more than to put this one in their rear view mirror. Sometimes these types of games happen when everything keeps going wrong for one side. The Panthers peppered away at T.Kotsiris overwhelming the goaltender with close to 40 shots. Goals kept coming in at a rapid rate for the Panthers, who kept getting the bounces along with a ton of chances. It was just one of those games where the bleeding didn’t stop. The Islanders couldn’t defend well enough while stuck chasing the game. At one point, the players may have  felt discouraged having to overcome an unreasonable deficit. This wasn’t a type of match that saw one or two super star players dictate the terms. Instead, many contributed offensively with M.Paciencia, M.Kabassakalian and J-C Mansour leading the way with four points each. Its not an ideal way to end your night, but the Islanders will learn-from it as they’ll try to get back on track.

The Allo Mon Coco St-Dorothee player of the night goes to Martino Freda of the Panthers. While many contributed due to the amount of goals scored, M.Freda took care of his own end allowing only three goals on 30 shots.

S.Fraga breaks late tie, Predators beat Red Wings

(4)Predators vs Red Wings(3)

Despite the Red Wings giving all they can handle in this one, It was the Predators that came out on top in the end. Throughout the entire time, this contest remained extremely close with the two sides trading leads. M.St-Martin scored first for the Red Wings, and in the span of only 25 seconds, the Predators played ahead on goals by A.Corbeil and M.Braun. Nearly fifteen minutes had gone by before the very same M.St-Martin scored to even the game for the Red Wings. Again, the Predators would pull ahead thanks to V.Romero only to see it get answered shortly after courtesy of Q.Joseph. But the tying goal would only set the stage for S.Fraga’s eventual winner that would put this contest away for good.  Its never a nice way to lose a game knowing that you only had a few more seconds to burn and force the extra time. That being said, a close loss is definitely better than a lopsided affair. The Red Wings dropped a game that they know could have gone either way. B.Verducci earned the win in net facing 35 shots over his counter part R.Testa as both goalies were sharp enabling their clubs to steal this contest.

The Allo Mon Coco St-Dorothee player of the night goes to Simon Fraga of the Predators. A key play leads to a clutch moment for the Predators d-man. S.Fraga scored a huge timely goal that ultimately decided the outcome  after a back and forth tightly knitted contest.

Flyers pummelled by Blackhawks in one sided affair

(13)Blackhawks vs Flyers(4)

It looked as though the Flyers were able to play neck in neck with the Blackhawks on Sunday night. After all, they went back and forth trading four goals each in the first twenty minutes, and everything pointed towards headed for a close hard fought battle till the end. Then suddenly, the Flyers were completely out of sync having to endure a forgetful second half of the game. Nothing went right for them in all areas of the court. Not only did they not score, but they gave up way to many goals that saw thing spiral out of control. The Blackhawks had many contribute with Giovanni DeStefano looking in fine form riffling a hat trick along with two assists. No doubt it ended up being a baffling affair. However, it is only an early regular season game, and the Flyers wont be overly concern with plenty of leadership throughout their line up. With some tweaks to help resolve the current issues, P.Petraccione, B.Panarello and C.Doulis just to name a few will eventually get their troops back on track.

The Allo Mon Coco St-Dorothee player of the game goes to Giovanni DeStefano of the Blackhawks. Known for  his defensive capabilities, G.DeStefano showed that he can help at both sides of the court. The veteran had a solid outing collecting five points that included a hat trick.

Canadiens finding their stride too late in high scoring duel with Kraken

(14)Kraken vs Canadiens(8)

It was one of those games that nobody was really interested in playing defense. And while the players had fun trading a tone of chances, the goaltenders were the ones that had to pay the price. The Kraken looked to blow the Canadiens out of the water for how strong they started. They stormed out of the gate running up the score 9-3 in their favour by the mid way point. Normally, that kind of a lead is sufficient on the larger part, but it didn’t quite turn out that way in the end. Although the Kraken did hang on to take the contest despite the Canadiens battling back rattling off five goals in only ten minutes. The problem was that they couldn’t contain one very key piece that ultimately did them in. T.Settino was fairly quiet for his standards in the first half of the game collecting only two points. However, once he saw the alarm bells ring, the forward decided to take initiative, and did he ever by going on a tear converting four straight times while adding a helper. If not for his incredible sequence toward the ladder stages of the game, the Canadiens would have potentially pulled the rug-from under the Krakens feet. Instead, they got there thanks to some key elements that produced in a big way.

The Allo Mon Coco St-Dorothee player of the game goes Georgie Papadakis of the Kraken. As a goal scorer, you just follow your instincts. G.Papdakis knows exactly where to go to cause havoc for the opposition. In a high scoring bout with the Canadiens, the sniper showed her finishing touch’s by striking four times while adding an assist.
