Furious rally fall short for the Bruins, F.Mastrocola carries Kings for a 4th straight win

(8)Kings vs Bruins(7)

A furious comeback was not enough as the Bruins dropped a close 8-7 decision to the unbeaten Kings on Sunday evening. The Kings held a 7-3 advantage by the mid way point,  but the Bruins responded with four straight goals to make for an exciting conclusion. K.Labelle started the rally with back to back tallies followed with A.Zakarian and J.Wong getting their names on the score sheet as well. You couldn’t have asked for a better response if you are with the Bruins. But on the down side of a spirited rally was an end to the game that slightly favoured the Kings instead. Despite having fifteen minutes of play remaining, only one goal was scored-from the two sides. F.Mastrocola was projected to be the likely hero for the season he’s been having so far. Already with a pair of goals and an assist, the forward came through at the games biggest moment to snap the tie and give the Kings a lead that they would not falter.

The Allo Mon Coco Ste-Dorothee player of the game goes to Francesco Mastrocola of the Kings. Look to your key player at a  time of need. The Kings were able to maintain their perfect record so far this season thanks to F.Mastrcola producing once again in a big way bagging three goals and an assist.

Sabres blitz Predators with 5 goals in first 15 minutes

(5)Predators vs Sabres(7)

The Sabres, despite giving up an early marker, lit the lamp with five goals in only fifteen minutes to kick start their night. C.Zafiropoulos set the trend striking twice followed with some balanced scoring involving three different players. Falling that far behind makes it difficult and discouraging for any opponent to try and battle back. That being said, the Predators began to assert themselves , tilting the court in their favour and generating multiple quality chances. M.Braun was the catalyst behind the Predators offense as the sniper didn’t go down without a fight sparking three goals in about eight minutes. It may have come a little too late, but the Predators fought back to avoiding an embarrassing loss. Maybe the Sabres let go of the gas pedal after building such a lead. That tends to happen when a team is comfortable in the drivers seat while the opposition is working harder to make a game of it. Regardless, the Sabres took the right approach by being the better of the two sides early in the game. A.Angelis, M.Chenier and the father son Zafiropoulos tandem were in full form again sharing three points apiece.

The Allo Mon Coco Ste-Dorothee player of the game goes to Mike Tzouvadakis of the Sabres. While the Sabres were building their early lead, M.Tzouvadais made sure to keep denying the Predators for as long as possible in order to keep his side playing ahead comfortably.

Kraken outlasted by Panthers after back and forth action

(7)Kraken vs Panthers(8)

There was no question that is was a crazy game with both teams pushing the pace. It was everything a clash between two solid teams should be, with back and forth action, a couple of hat tricks, big saves and a roller-coaster ride of emotion. Unfortunately for the Kraken, they came up on the wrong side of an 8-7 decision against the Panthers. Neither team had a gauge on where this thing was headed. Both sides kept trading leads and whoever trailed would battle back and even the score. With D.Lipinski tying the game 7-7 by the thirty nine  minute mark, goals-from that point on would matter more since time was winding down. Somehow, this contest went on a scoring drought for nearly ten minutes. It seemed all of a sudden that they paid more attention to helping out their net minders since that next tally would likely decide matters. Even with little time left over, both teams took the approach that they were already in a sudden death frame. The extra time ended up being avoided when M.Paciencia scored with just over a minute remaining. An innocent play in front of the net saw the forward swipe at a loose ball that just snuck its way behind the Karaken net minder. It was just one of those nights that neither team could have held on to any sort of momentum. It really came down to whoever would make that one big play. In tonight’s case, the Panthers got their first solidifying their perfect regular season record so far.

The Allo Mon Coco Ste-Dorothee player of the game goes to Rob Lendrum of the Panthers. After collecting three goals, R.Lendrum was the one to feed M.Paciencia for the winner that decided a back and forth high scoring affair.

Canadiens overcome slow start for character win

(8)Canadiens vs Red Wings(5)

It goes without question that teams want a good start to their night. For the Canadiens, they came out with less energy and urgency falling behind 3-1 through the first fifteen minutes. The good part about it is that it was still fairly early in the game and the deficit wasn’t extraordinary. It becomes a question of how you respond. The Canadiens managed to take over by pressuring better, keeping the ball longer, and capitalising on the Red Wings breakdowns. As they slowly took over the game, the Canadiens looked more in sync using their rhythm to over take control of the situation. This wasn’t a case of relying on anyone in particular as many contributed in their own way. Offensively ,C.Kfoury and F.Decoster riffled a pair while in net D.Geishecker-Cote rebounded after a shaky start. The Red Wings saw most of their scoring done early and late having to endure a scoring drought that lasted for about twenty seven minutes. J.Testa, Z.St-Martin and M.St-Martin provided much of the offense for the Red Wings as the three players shared two points each.

The Allo Mon Coco Ste-Dorothee player of the game goes to Claude Kfoury of the Canadiens. While many participated in getting the job done, C.Khoury helped make it easier for his teammates by setting up plenty of plays that resulted in a five point night.

Blackhawks thrash Wild after sleepy start

(11)Blackhawks vs Wild(6)

For about twenty minutes, the Blackhawks kept pressing the snooze button on their phones. While that was happening, the Wild were the early birds in this one storming out to a 5-1 lead just shy of the twenty minute mark. What more can you ask for in such a short span of hockey. Your offense is rolling on high cylinders, the defense is ready and primed, and the  goaltending is up to the task. The problem was that it looked like a pack of hungry wolves woke up and decided to have a big lunch. The Wild looked like the prey and the Blackhawks were the hunters as they made their presence felt on what was a complete turn of events. Ten of the next eleven goals were scored by the Blackhawks. Once the flood gates opened, the Wild couldn’t stop the bleeding, and were stuck enduring a difficult time feeling almost defenceless. In order for such a turn over to occur, it usually means that one side simply cant keep up versus a hungrier opponent. The Blackhawks simply outworked the Wild which resulted in a flurry of tallies that kept accumulating. So many players had an input with E.Capalbo, G.DeStefano, E.Gabrielli and B.Freitas-Pereira sharing four points each.

The Allo Mon Coco Ste-Dorothee player of the game goes to Enzo Gabrielli of the Blackhawks. The forward had the most goals with three that included the winner in what was a complete turn of events.
