Brodie Boys use their speed to down Country Club in both encounters

The Brodie Boys know that a big part of their strength come-from their defensemen bringing up the ball to push a faster pace with the forwards into the offensive zone. By using that to their advantage , they have kept teams honest and done extremely well. Tonight, that paid off in both their wins versus the Country Club. S.Bordonaro and T.Ferreira did all of the scoring in the first contest bagging a pair each ,and A.Mancini allowed only a perfect top corner shot by C.Payette to beat him. It wasn’t like the Country Club didn’t play poorly to finish on the short end of things. In hopes of rebounding for a better outing, they just couldn’t keep pace with a quicker and crisper opponent. The Brodie Boys never let up, and seemed to only get stronger as the night went on. After mounting a 4-2 lead heading into the final stanza, the Brodie Boys created a much more convincing gap by  striking four times without a response. Many contributed with S.Bordonaro leading the charge up front on three goals and an assist while P.Stroubakis was the mastermind behind the scene setting up four goals.

Assadi Consulting inc feeling sour unable to close out first encounter with RCGT Knights

Sometimes you just have to find a way to close it out. The remedy to defend a 3-1 lead wasn’t there for the Assadi Consulting inc, who had to settle for a draw instead. Giving up two straight tallies is obviously not ideal but credit to the RCGT Knights for pushing the pace. Both sides had a chance to collect the win in the shootout but the goaltenders weren’t having it. T.Sauk was exceptional denying three attempts for the RCGT Knights while P.Assadi duplicated his counter part stopping three high end players as well. Considering the way things ended, you would have to assume the second game was going to be just as close. Unfortunately, it resembled nothing like the first one with the RCGT Knights dictating the terms. All it takes sometimes is for a player or two to up their game. In the case for the RCGT Knights, J.Morina and T.Sauk stole the show. The Assadi Consulting inc had no answers for the two players. J.Morina was simply to much and couldn’t be contained scoring four of his clubs five goals. As for T.Sauk, the young talent was stellar in net keeping a lethal offense to only one goal on 21 shots. Overall, it was just a good night for a team taking four of a possible six points against a higher division team.

Classics outlast Dragons on their depth

The intensity between these two teams is automatic. Even though the odds played in the Classics favour, the games tend to go till the very end, at least in the large part. The opener was exactly what one would expect knowing the capabilities of what the Classics and Dragons offer. Loaded with talent up front, both sides combined for a bunch of goals that was decided by P.Karvouriaris’s late tally. The sharp shooter scored twice collecting four points along with his most valued teammate C.Gingras. The second game started off very well for a team that just suffered a close defeat. With G.DeMarinis bagging his second early in the final frame, the Dragons appeared to be in fine shape. Then, it all fell apart. A big tying goal by M.Mavroudis spelled the beginning of the end for the Dragons. It seems no matter how well positioned you are going up against the Classics, it just doesn’t seem to matter much in the end. C.Gingras and P.Karvouriaris decided that it was time to get serious and take over combining for a ridiculous nine points. Sure, they merit all the praise for how they influence a game, but the Classics do have a solid supporting cast that can hurt you as well. Players like M.Mavrouidis, M.Destounis and A.Argiroudis can be just as lethal and are a big part of the equation. It goes without saying that the Dragons need their full line up in order to defeat the Classics. Despite the missing links, they faired well for three of the four periods.

Degenerates save their best for last in split with Snipers

The Degenerates understood that they were going to play on their heels facing off against the Snipers. As long as the danger is kept to the outside, and with R.Ranieri guarding his cage, things tend to turn out fine, at least sometimes. You never want to fall behind if your stuck chasing the ball. The Snipers only got on board as of the second period when their captain Ali Khanafer finally got to R.Ranieri. Two minutes after that, B.Cabral doubled the lead, and the Degenerates knew that they were in big trouble despite the amount of time left over. Not to be outdone, they did crack the barrier courtesy of a power play goal by O.Valiquette. Now that your only a shot on net-from tying the game, this contest was still in reach for the trailing side. The Degenerates desperately put on some pressure while removing their net minder for the extra attacker. Unfortunately nothing came of it as J.Hassan took advantage of feeding an empty cage. The nice part of these two mini game formats is that you have a chance at redeeming yourself after a tough loss. Although noting is guaranteed, the Degenerates were dialled in wanting nothing less than a split with the Snipers. There best moments occurred in the final frame where they won it handily on goals by D.Greco, O.Valiquette and D.Charbonneau. You would have to figure that the Degenerates would be the more sluggish side due to their aging legs. Instead, they found the energy to battle hard, and got rewarded by defeating a resilient team.

Short bench dooms United Arms in losses to Branditscan

When you shoot yourself in the foot ,its very hard to walk, and the United Arms made it very difficult on themselves in both games versus the Branditscan. Surrendering five goals in both starts to your game only suggests that you weren’t ready to play or because you didn’t have enough players to compete. Even if the Branditscan would have likely taken both encounters, the United Arms could have done better to contain them. In fairness however, they didn’t have the body count to go toe to toe, but could have played a better coverage game. D.Seguin got the ball rolling early posting two goals before completing his hat trick late in the game. After collecting four straight primary assists, T.Faucher scored one as well. With a chance to adjust and put up a better fight, the United Arms just couldn’t compete versus a superior opponent. The contest was already decided by the end of the first period that was powered by K.Hopkins three goals. By then, the Branditscan ended the United Arms misery early in the frame netting three quick goals due to the seven goal mercy rule. J.Abruz had scored twice ,B.Makris collected four assists, and G.Scietta barely needed a shower after facing a few shots.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Tyler Sauk of the RCGT Knights. For a young talent, the goaltender looks like an established veteran making one save look easier than the other. After denying three shootout attempt, T.Sauk limited a potent Assadi Consulting inc offense to only one single tally.
