Generals cruise to easy sweep of Sonic

The Generals will make it look easy most of the time. All they needed to do was put Sonic on the ropes, and this series was over and done with. The score was already 3-0 in favour of the Generals after one period. Sonic knew that in order to have a chance, they needed to be the ones playing in front even if it would have been by a very slight edge. Overcoming such a deficit makes it nearly impossible going up against a power house. Granted, Sonic only trailed by three heading into the final stanza. But like its been the case for most of the season, the Generals seem to bring their best for last like in tonight’s case rattling off six tallies. Goals just kept piling on, and the two sides couldn’t wait long enough for this series to end. Its very difficult trying to figure out who to slow down when a team has that many weapons. M.Larin exploded with five goals, J.Brunet riffled a hat trick, and of coarse O.Valiquette got a taste converting twice while setting up four tallies. You almost cant contain that kind of fire power unless you match them in that same category. The Generals are a class apart compared to other three teams of the division. To their credit however, Sonic did make them work hard for at least two full periods of both games. There was no question that they came to play and battle trying to make it as difficult as possible.

United Masters pull off stunning comeback to advance to final

It was a game that seemed out of reach. The United Masters trailing 3-1 in the third period, appeared to be on their way to a loss which would have forced a third and deciding game somehow were able to pull it off in the end. Things weren’t looking promising with the Dirty Scrubs trapping the lanes while R.Ranieri kept stoning his opponent with some nice looking saves. Your always looking for a spark somewhere to give if you’re the trailing side. The United Masters were frustrated scoring only once in two frames, but kept at it knowing that it only takes one sometimes. Eventually, that goal came thanks to N.Malhkassian batting a rebound that gave Ranieri no chance whatsoever. Now that the gap was reduced by one, the United Masters looked hungrier and way more engaged confident that they would get there. All it took was for one big shift to flip the script. With the very same N.Malkhassian jumping on his rebound for the equaliser, a wide open C.Lato moments later was able to finally put his side in front for the first time during the night. Momentum swings as such can be a scary thing. Unless the Dirty Scrubs found a clear way to score, there was almost no way that the United Masters were letting go of this one despite having to kill off a late penalty. Wins come in all varieties over the coarse of a regular season or the playoffs. While things were looking grim for the United Masters, credit to them for believing that it was possible no matter how bleak it looked.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Nareg Malkhassian of the United Masters. With goals hard to come by, N.Malkhassian was a big reason why the United Masters got three in a tightly tested contest with the Dirty Scrubs. He scored twice while setting up one that helped overcome a 3-1 deficit.
