RCGT Knights winners of 4vs4 division 2

Monday May 8 ( Final Division 2 )

M.Argiris plays overtime hero as the RCGT Knights defeat ETNA to claim 4vs4 second division title

The series between the RCGT Knights and ETNA took a while to get going, with both teams feeling each other out. The first game was very low scoring with the RCGT Knights carrying a slight 1-0 lead courtesy of J.Morina. Eventually, ETNA got there break later in the last frame when J.Cardinal finally got to S.Sauk while pulling the rug right under the RCGT Knights feet moments later on a huge go ahead marker by M.Calabrice. From-a team that looked down and out, now find themselves ahead in a best of three series due to a late surge. While getting that first one under you belt is always a sigh of relief, you still need to capture that second win. ETNA knew that it would take a lot since the RCGT Knights are a deep and experienced hockey team. Just by the way game 2 went, both sides had to figure it would take every inch of the court to get the right result. The RCGT Knights were positioned better on two occasions when D.Guarnieri broke a couple of ties. Unable to close it out, the RCGT Knights kept getting answered which left their fate to their net minder S.Sauk and their selected players in the shootout to get it done. Normally the net minders prevail in this department, but that wasn’t the case at all with both sides scoring a five out of a possible six goals. Luckily for the RCGT Knights, S.Sauk made that one save to preserve the season and give his side a chance to  take it in a do or die game 3.It now came down to a 12 minute period and potentially more for the two sides. This is a stage where the benches get shorter and the adrenaline kicks in even harder. Both teams looked like they were in survival mode for how intense it got. Every single loose ball involved a hard fought battle since ball possession is vital knowing that the next shot on net could end it. P.Delli Colli of ETNA along with S.Sauk of the RCGT Knights were beyond brilliant. They were so good that is was going to be an injustice for whoever would loose the game. Unfortunately , no matter how well you play as a team, it will always come down to that one single play. ETNA thought they had it if not for S.Sauk making a series saving stop, and F.Dominanni cutting a pass that was surely going to the back of the net as a wide open ETNA player was there to feed an empty cage. Instead, the break went the other way, and ETNA were the ones on the short end. Unable to contain a sprawling M.Argiris, the skilled forward was able to cut threw the crease and bury his back hand right under Delli Colli. It was the end of a series that really had the hype for an entertaining finish. Tonight, the RCGT Knights had the stars aligned and deserved what they got. On behalf of Hockey balle.com, congratulations go out to Scott Sauk, and the RCGT Knights for winning a thrilling series.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Johnny Morina of the RCGT Knights. When combining the ton of minutes he played coupled with the fact that J.Morina had his hand in very single goal including the shootouts, the quarterback undoubtedly deserves high marks for what an incredible asset he was for his team.
