(7)Red Lite vs Slayers(1)
Slayers crushed 7-1 by Red Lite
Once the scoring started, Red Lite refused to take their foot off the gas. S.Ghilarducci got the opener and riffled his second in the first period for a 3-0 lead. On a rare occasion, the Slayers celebrated a second period tally by J.DeLTorto but that was as good as it got. Red Lite went on to score twice in the second period before expanding their lead by the third to put the game away. K.Kuczmarski and F.Caisse also had multi goal games with the help of J.Adamou, who helped set up four markers. It wasn’t his busiest night but S.Beauchamp did his part allowing one goal on nine shots. Red Lite have one game left in the regular season and will try to win their last match to get that first round bye and a pass to the finals.
(3)Spartans vs Black Knights(4) S.O
Black Knights score 4-3 shootout win over Spartans
With the Black Knights and Slayers knotted 2-2, and a little to separate the way the game went, a shootout was required. There was five minutes left on the clock when G.Chountalos of the Spartans forced the eventual extra time. Each side sent three of their skilled players to try and win the breakaway competition only to see the Black Knights prevail. The winning side had P.Musto and J.Gagne take care of the scoring while the Spartans saw only J.Adamou get the better of P-O Girouard. The Black Knights led 2-0 and kept a blank score sheet up until the mid way point of the match. P.Genereux and A.Mezzagno also scored in the win. The Black Knights presently sit in first place of the A division and will hope to stay there with fate out of their hands. As for the Spartans, next week will decide if they’ll finish in second, third or fourth place as the playoffs approach.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Pierre-Olivier Girouard of the Black Knights. The goaltender kept his club in it never giving up a lead, and denied two of three shooters in the shootout to earn the win in nets.
