Legacy D Thursday Champions

Thursday April 28(Finals)

(3)Legacy vs TANK(2) Game 1

Legacys’ Bertrand tallies late game winning goal

D.Bertrand scored with just over two minutes left in the third period to lift Legacy to a 3-2 win over Tank. S.Robineault and T.Bozinakis scored first period goals for Legacy and M.Dagenais pushed away 24 of 26 shots to earn the win in net. After falling behind early on, Tank slowly got better as the game went on. J.Quesnel-Vinet sparked his club back in it with two second period goals and Tank kept emerging putting plenty of pressure on the Legacy defense. Each side traded enough shots and scoring chances throughout the match that had both net minders excel between the pipes. If it wasn’t for a perfect feed by G.Pisanelli to set up D.Bertrand late in the game, this contest would have most likely ended in a draw.

(6)TANK vs Legacy(8) Game 2

Legacy capture fourth cup in four years

They don’t normally play with a full squad, but Legacy may have needed those extra legs to defeat a resilient hockey team. The offence was evenly spread as seven different players celebrated goals. Just like in game one, Legacy had the better start which forced Tank to play catch up all game long. The problem was that Legacy never had the comfort of playing with a lead for enough time. The nonstop effort from Tank kept responding by tying the game on a few occasions, but were never able to grab a lead. A key moment occurred by the first period where Tank gave up a shorthanded goal by E.Girouard. His fake back hand move beat A.Mancini to break a 1-1 tie. Tank did however score twice with their five man unit. J.Quesnel-Vinet and B.Deslauriers each had two goals in the loss. T.Bozinakis may have scored the biggest goal of the game by riffling a rocket of a slap shot on the power play giving Legacy their seventh goal of the match. At that point, Tank had no choice to pull out A.Mancini for an extra attacker. After receiving a pass from G.Pisanelli, Payam Assadi salted the win in an empty net for his second of the contest. Following three championships in four years, this win puts this edition of Legacy into the rarified air of past great teams. Led by great leadership from George Panagiotopoulos and Tasso Bozinakis, Legacy were deserving for what they achieved on Thursday night. On behalf of Hockeyballe.com, congratulations go out to all the players that made this happen. On a different note, Legacy will be representing Quebec this summer at the C Nationals in Kelowna British Columbia. The date of the event is from July 21-24.We wish the boys the best of luck in keeping Quebec a power house province when it comes to the game we all love.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Tasso Bozinakis of Legacy. Defense often wins you championships. His rock solid play from blue line to blue line was a significant reason why his club celebrated the D Thursday division championship.
