J.P Blais, McCann score two goals apiece as Communists edge Sailors

It’s only the first game of the season and the Communists showed plenty of resilience in their close 4-3 win over the Smooth Sailors. J.Provost-Blais scored twice including the equalizer and the go ahead marker while J-P McCann did the same with two quick second period goals. Neither side was able to get on board up until the nine minute mark of the second period. The Communists cracked the barrier taking a 2-0 lead but conceded the next three with the help of J.Palmitano’s two tallies. Unable to protect their slight margin, the Smoot Sailors saw the game take another turn with just four minutes remaining. It was at that moment that J.P Provost-Blais came to the rescue bagging two very quick goals only 13 seconds apart. A.Grieco and J.Vrettis had their hands full but did a splendid job keeping their clubs in it. J.Vrettis got credited the win over his counterpart as both net minders faced 23 shots each.

P.Bibeau shines in thriller shootout win over Bramabulls

What a night for P.Bibeau and his teammates. The Capitals managed to pull a complete effort out of their bag of tricks in Tuesday night’s 4-3 shootout victory over one of the division’s elite clubs, the Bramabulls. After trailing 1-0 heading into the second period, P.Bibeau decided that it was time for himself and the Capitals to get involved. Bibeau notched two unanswered goals to carry a 2-1 lead after two frames. But the lead would only last so long. The Bramabulls also had a spark plug emerge as S.Sacco riffled his second to level the game early in the frame. The two teams were unable to score the rest of the way including the sudden death overtime. With only a shootout left over, both captains sent some of their finest players to get the job done. It was only fitting that P.Bibeau and S.Sacco would be part of the arsenal as both players came through once more providing key goals. The difference however was the extra tally by M.Tremblay, who came in with a hard low wrist shot to beat G.Follano and give the Capitals the win. The Capitals couldn’t have asked for a better game versus an established hockey team with many young promising players to their lineup.

Rested Legacy fall short in season debut

The conditions seemed to be fine for Legacy taking on the Smoot Sailors who just came off a heartfelt loss versus the Communists. Despite playing an hour earlier, the legs were working on all cylinders. The Smooth Sailors built a 3-0 lead and didn’t concede their first goal up until the mid way mark of the third period. A.Grieco faced nearly 20 shots till that point and was a vital reason why his club played with a comfortable lead. Four different players scored in the victory that included C.Lato’s winner by the four minute mark of the third period. J.Palmitano just came off a two goal game and added to his total accumulating three more points. It wasn’t the start they wanted but Legacy know that missing key pieces didn’t help their cause.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Pat Bibeau of the Capitals. The skilled defenseman did plenty providing two goals and a shootout marker to help the Capitals take the season opener versus the Bramabulls.
